One more thing about Ellis Co. My great great grandfather was John Ward Gillespie from Tazewell Co., VA and he moved with his wife and children to Kaufman, Kaufman Co. TX (next door) in the 1850's where he was the first sheriff and later judge for that county. He was the son of Jane Ward from Wards Cove, Tazewell Co., VA. Jane's parents were Nancy Bowen and John Ward, from Tazewell Co., VA..... Kaufman is about 30 miles from Ellis Co. depending where in Ellis your looking. I know that more family moved to this area. My 3x great grandmother and grandfather, Jane Ward and Robert Gillespie both died in Kaufman, TX in 1872 and 1874. If you think these Texas roots might have a connection just let me know.
