I am most interested in the history of the Ward family. While I don't know much at this time, I do know my gggrandfather was Simon Ward b in SC. Below is an outline of his family, my ggrandmother was the first daughter. I have been told that she spoke with an accent as her mother was Dutch or German. Also she was b in SC also. I don't have the year that James Ward (first son) was born but he was listed in the 1850 census of Richmond Co., GA. Simon Ward was there in the 1830 or before as he m in Richmond Co.. and he received a land grant about 1832. After 1850 Simon moved to Columbia Co., GA and was listed in the census. I am working on the idea now that he may have moved back to SC sometime after that and possibly died in SC. after 1870. I haven't proven that yet. I feel he is the son of or grandson of Theophilus Ward of SC. around Darlington and Marion Co.. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
