    3. G'day Brenda, I'd be inclined to contact Salisbury Cathedral and/or the Church of England Archives in England. The timeframe you are looking at was fairly tumultuous for the Church with Roman Catholics and the Church of England and the Monarchy all going every which way. I would also believe that there could be a biography of the man which if you could find it could provide some answers. Again the Cathedral or Archives could help. My understanding is that it was common in those days for clergy to practise law. So few people could read and/.or write the two "jobs" sort of went together. No answers for you but a couple of suggestions which may help. I'd be quite interested in a summary of Bishop Ward's life if you are successful in tracking down more information Good Luck Chris ----- Original Message ----- From: <BrendReed@aol.com> To: <WARD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 20, 2002 11:22 PM Subject: SETH WARD, BISHOP OF EXETER & SALISBURY 1616-1689

    3. A historical novel published a few years ago has a lot about Bishop Ward and the building of the Cathedral of Salisbury. The ancient hill fortress of Sarum was very near by. The title of the book is "Sarum".
