    1. Re: Ward Book and CT/NJ Wards
    2. Dear Kat, It is my understanding that there was a man named John Turner Ward whose lineage traced back to William Ward who lived at Sudsbury, MA. Robert Kline has a web page at http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/robertkline/ where he covers this William Ward ancestry. According to my research, this John Ward is not to be confused with John "The Dishturner" Ward of the New Jersey Wards. If your lineage trancends through John Ward, Sr., through Mary, Elizabeth and Dorcas, then it's probably thru the Harrison family. Is that right? At least I have Dorcus Warde married to Joseph Harrison, Sr., and Mary Warde married to Samuel Harrison, Sr. I don't have Elizabeth Warde married to a Harrison but to Thomas Lyon, Sr. If your lineage also runs thru John Ward, Sr.'s, son Caleb, to Caleb, to Zebediah to Elizabeth (m. Wade), then this should be the Caleb Ward who married Mary Cooper? Funny, but I don't have anything on the children of Caleb Ward and Mary Cooper or that lineage. Which Josiah Ward is it you also descend through? To whom was this Josiah Ward married, Mary Allis Kitchell? If so, I have the following data on them which you might not have: 1) Josiah Warde, Sr., b.November 05, 1661, in Branford, New Haven Co., CT., d.April 16, 1716 in Newark, Essex Co., N.J. (married 1st, about 1683 to America Lawrence, 2 kids) (married 2nd, about 1688 in Newark, Essex Co., N.J.) + Mary Allis Kitchell, b.Abt. 1665, in Branford, New Haven Co., CT., d.Abt. 1713, in Newark, Essex Co., N.J. Children: 1) Samuel Warde 2) Josiah Warde, Jr. 3) Laurence Warde, b.April 04, 1694, in Newark, Essex Co., N.J., d.April 1783, in Branford, New Haven Co., CT. (married about Abt. 1732 in Bloomfield, Essex Co., N.J. 8 kids) + Eleanor Baldwin, b.June 1705, in Newark, Essex Co., N.J. 4) Robert Warde There's a great amount of confusion about the 2nd Lawrence Ward. If you read the same references I found, he had to have married his own sister, Elizabeth. ============= Anyway, my lineage goes like this: Myself, Ward Lee Ward My Father, George Truman Ward + Mary Agnes Rothers My Grandfather, Orin Joy Ward + Mary Catherine Allen His Father, George W. John Ward, Turner is indeed one of my lines - his father is George Ward. This is the line I am trying to untangle now, I go through his son Caleb, to Caleb, to Zebediah to Elizabeth (m. Wade). I also descend through another son of George's (Josiah.) Through John Ward, Sr. I descend through Mary, Elizabeth and Dorcas. I have 2 Lawrences so far. One is brother to George above and had no children. The other b. 1710 d. 1793, son of Josiah Ward and Mary Kitchell, m. Elizabeth Baldwin. I haven't untangled the Ward/Trafford thing but have lots of conflicting info I really haven't analyzed closely yet. Who are your Ward's? Kathleen
