Thought that it was time that I throw my WARD family out there in hopes that there may be a connection. Matthew WARD b: October 1, 1812 Greenville District, SC d. January 1, 1899 Montana, Labette Co., KS m. 1)Louisa TURNER (d/o Charles C. & Rebecca TURNER) probably Calloway Co., KY 2)Mary J. SNOWDEN Matthew's 1st son, Lewis "Luke" Franklin WARD, was born in Daubertown, Calloway Co., KY on May 12, 1841. Matthew was in KY until the 1850 census where he was in Crawford Co., IL. Matthew and two sons joined the Civil War. One son, James M., died during the war. Matthew stayed in Crawford Co., IL until at least 1870 or so then by the 1880s he was in Neosho and Labette Counties, KS. Matthew was also in the Mexican War. Known children of Matthew were: Lewis "Luke" Franklin, James M., Mary J., Betsey A; two others may be from second wife; not sure: Thomas & Sarah. Lewis was back and forth between Sullivan Co., IN, Crawford Co., IL, and Neosho Co., KS. His children were: General George, Henry A. (I think stands for Artimus), William B., Emily Frances, Marion Frances (twins that died near birth). Several of us have quite a bit on the WARDs from Matthew on but am searching for Matthew's parents. Does anyone have any WARD connections in Greenville, SC district in the early 1800s? Would love to share. Laurie in NY [email protected]
