He came to this country before the Revolution, and settled in what was called Long Pond, NJ about 30 miles from New York City. He was a farmer. His son's name was also Peter. He was all through the Revolutionary War. He was a member of the Senate and Assembly of New Jersey for twenty years-most of the time in the Senate. My mother's maiden name was Nancy Mead. She was born in Holland. Her father's name was John Mead. (They) settled in Camp Gaw. (They) had five sons, Peter, the oldest, John, Thomas, James and William, and three daughters, Jane, Catherine and Mary. Peter was born at Camp Gaw. When he was married he settled there. My sister married Isaac Bogart of Camp Gaw (NJ) Catherine married Stephen Sloat of Sloatsburg, NY. Mary married Abram Dater of Rockland County, NY.
