A historical novel published a few years ago has a lot about Bishop Ward and the building of the Cathedral of Salisbury. The ancient hill fortress of Sarum was very near by. The title of the book is "Sarum". Chris, There are several sites on line that talk about Bishop Seth Ward. The only genealogical information is that his father was named John Ward & that he (not Bishop Seth Ward) was a practicing attorney of his day. Brenda Reed
http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/carroll/court/1835misc.txt The above address is to arecently uploaded file where a John Ward Jr. J.P. is taking an oath.... There are several other names mentioned, but he is the only Ward. Hope this helps someone. Inga Ward
Hi Sherry My James that we are searching for was born in 1820 - oh, I wish it were to be the same one. We have a possibility of two in the UK, but it may be possible that he immigrated to the US, Canada or Australia, like his brother, my gg grandfather. Hope we both find him. Hi List I am researching the Ward's from Shutford/Barford St John. Is there any other researchers with Wards in that area? Regards Leanne Hyett SEAFORD South Australia
Seeking information regarding the parents & siblings, if any, of SETH WARD, born 1616/1617 at Aspenden, Hertfordshire, England & died 6 January 1689 at Knightsbridge, Middlesex, England. He is buried at Salisbury Cathedral. He is a very famous Bishop in the Anglican Church, serving at Exeter & Salisbury. What is known is that his father was named JOHN WARD and that he practiced law in Hertfordshire (probably). I have no information on his ancestry other than this name. Apparently the family had been quite wealthy at one time but somehow lost much of their fortune. Am interested in any possible links to the SETH WARD line of Henrico County, Virginia. Thanks, Brenda Reed
Leanne, what information can you give me on your James Ward? Mine was born about 1818 In Oh. He married Mary Riggsby 9 Jan 1834 In Union County, In. The only thing I have found so far on him is that he was born in 1830 (maybe in Pasquotank Co. NC, not really sure if he was born there or not), I do know the year is correct. His mother was a Nancy and his father Jams Ward. Other than that I am still looking. If you can pull up the Latter Day Saints Church site and go under search you should be able to pull him up, I think I pulled his name up on the yesterday, but I didn't find it when I looked today. If I run across anything again I will send it to you. They are also in the 1850 Census under Pasquotank Co. NC. He was 20 years old. Hello All, I recently spoke to a Dr. Ward who springs off of the Cobb Co. Ward family. He says that John Ward b. 1836 whom the "John Ward Road" is named after in Cobb Co Ga is the son of William A. Ward. Would like siblings of William A. Ward who was in Cobb Co Ga in th early 1800's. For those of you looking for Elvira Ward check out the J. J. Ward Minister in OK. This might give you a lead. I've forgotten who you were. ...sorry... :) Take Care,GigiGet more from the Web. FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com
Hi, Rick well sorry must be the wrong James Ward.. according to the 1850 census on James Ward that is in my files he had a wife named Nancy Bundy which was his second wife, the children of James and his first wife were: James Jr.,William, Enoch, William Alfred Ward which was my ggg-grandfather, Stephen, Sarah, Ambros They had 2 Williams but I don't know the other one's middle name and then Nancy's children from a prev. marriage, Caroline Delon which eventually became William's wife, Martha Delon , William Delon these were. Speaking of keeping it in the family, With Caroline and William getting married and them being stepsis/bro. got her kicked out of the church(Quakers), but I guess it happens.... All of them lived in Pasquotank Co.,NC..... Unless James was married twice in 1850 which could have been, but I haven't seen anything else on that, but it never hurts to find out though... Maybe someone else will run across this and know of this family. But thanks for the info. Rick. None of the names you gave me fit into this.
