    1. Ward Family in San Francisco in 1880s
    2. Karen Conley
    3. Hi List: I am looking for any information at all on a Ward family in San Francisco, CA in the 1880s. They had at least two children, Harry and Ruth ( my grandmother). My great grandparents died and my grandmother was adopted by a couple named Nicholas and Anna Ott. I have been told by my aunt that young Harry Ward committed sucide near to Calvery Cemetery not long after the deaths of his parents. Any info on my grandmother's family would be most appreciated. This Ward family was Catholic and may have had French Canadian connections. My grandmother was born in 1883. Thanks! Karen Conley klconley@webtv.net

    3. Hi Alan, This is only a very 'sketchy' possibility really. There is no direct connection between Louis (or Lewis) and Increase WARD. This is not really my line either. Mine comes through Increase brother Robert WARD. All I know is what I gave you. I only know that my Increase WARD was born in Newport, Hants County, Nova Scotia and died near Halifax. I do not know the names of the rest of his children except for Thomas which I found on the LDS site. That's also where I found Lewis WARD. http://familysearch.org The person who submitted the data on Increase WARD probably only mentions Thomas because it's his own line. I'm sure there must have been more children. Are you located in Nova Scotia? Have you been to the NS Archives? George was in Jessamine Co, KY in 1800, Woodford Co 1820, Mercer Co 1830, Washington Co 1840, and Mercer Co 1850. His occupation was that of carpenter. In 1850 his age was 78, and the occupants of his household were: Mary Ward, age 30, b. KY Hannah Ward, age 24, b. KY Jeptha Ward, age 12, b. KY George Ward, age 6, b. KY I don't know his relationship to any of these people; probably was the father of Mary and Hannah, grandfather of Jeptha and George, but I can't find anything to connect them all. George S. Ward married Hester Veatch (aka Easter Veace)08Aug1814, Mercer Co. There is also a marriage record for George Ward and Mary Polly Luyster (aka Lister) 10Feb1819 Mercer Co. I am operating under the assumption that this is the same George. I am interested in George because I believe him to be the father of my g-g-grandfather, William H. Ward, who was born and raised in Mercer Co. William was born abt 1816, married 3 times, first to Margaret Gritton, second to Milliann Jane Gritton, third to Nancy Ann Lewis. He migrated to Indiana before 1860. If anyone lays claim to any of these individuals, PLEASE contact me!!! Petunia@Succeed.net

    3. HI, I just realized that your Louis Ward could be mine. If so I am so excited. I thought I had hit a road block. My Louis married Elizabeth in 1880 both events where in Halifax Nova Scotia. Could you send me more info or tell me where to look? I have been at this dead end for over five years so this is something big. Thanks Alan -----Original Message----- From: Virginia Bergmann [mailto:ginnybergmann@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, April 23, 2002 11:27 AM To: WARD-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: "Increase" WARD - How common? Hi again, I just checked that LDS record for Increase WARD. He married Abigail MOSHER in 1817 It shows only one child named Thomas WARD b.1820 Fairview, Halifax d.25 Dec 1887 (but there could have been more) He married Margaret O'Brign or O'Brien in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in 1842. Children: Frederick 1864, Maudeh 1854, John 1855, Catherine Abigail 1862. Now it could be that Increase had more than one child and that Thomas had a brother who had a son Louis. Are you sure of the spelling of Louis? The LDS site lists a Lewis WARD b/c 1845 in Halifax, NS. who married an Elizabeth in 1880. 3. Harold, I saw where you have Wards, in Chambers Co. Al. My Wards were in Randolph Co., right next to Chambers, so wondering if there might be a connection. Mine was Wilson Lumpkin Ward, born about 1842 in Al., he was married to Emily Caroline Hodges. His father was a William Ward, and mother, Clarissa Pearson. I don't have any birth or death dates for William, but I know that he and Clarissa were married about 1834 in Fayette Co. Ga. Do you think there might be a connection to yours anywhere? 3. I have an Emma Ward born 2 Sept 1842, at Belbroughton, Worcester, Eng. Her father was William, b 12 May 1819, d 29 Nov 1870, Belbroughton. Emma's mother, Mary, died at the birth of her brother, Edward, Sep 8, 1848. William remarried again in 1853 to Mary Ann Walker, and had 7 sons, one being my grandfather. All sons, except for Alfred, and William, Jr., left for America in late 1880's. All boys were plasterer's and in construction in California. All born in Belbroughton. Alfred lived and died in Stourbridge, William Jr. died young. This is all I have on Emma, and comes from family bible. She had a sister Harriet b 21 Mar 1847, brother, Henry b 25 Dec 1843, d 26 Ap 1868, and brother Edward b & d Sept 7-8 1848 and buried with his mother. I have been looking for info on the first family of William for years, and not much luck, especially with Emma and Harriet. I have never heard what William's occupation was, but always thought was probably the same as his son's. This is probably not the right Emma. Wish I could help you AND me!! 3. Ahh.. you just might have hit upon something. My Increase WARD died NOV 22 1870 at Dutch Village, Nova Scotia which to my knowledge is just outside Halifax. (there is a Dutch Village Rd. in Halifax). He is listed in the LDS database. I have my whole family tree online if you'd like to look through it. Although Increase is only a brother of my grgr grandfather, Robert WARD. My site is at http://capebretonroots.com/ward Hope this helps, Virginia >From: "warda" <warda@speakeasy.net> >Reply-To: WARD-L@rootsweb.com >To: WARD-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: RE: "Increase" WARD - How common? >Date: Mon, 22 Apr 2002 19:00:54 -0500 > >Hi, I am very corious about your Increase Ward born in Nova Scotia in 1790. >I have Ward's but I can go no further back than 1850.
