My Wards are dark haired, dark skinned with blue or hazel eyes also. I remember my mother saying there were red heads on her side and my father's side (my father is the Ward side), but I have never met any reletives with red hair that I remember. You Ward folks are so lucky to have been able to trace what you have. I am the 4th generation of Smith (Smyth) Pine Ward and have been at a loss for some time. My Grandfather Charles Henry Irwin m. Emma Alice Ward and he always told my Mother, since I was the youngest of seven that he wished I would be a redhead and why, I'll never know. Of course, he never got his wish from any of our family. I have a very old shaving mug that has the name William E. Ward engraved in gold, and still have not figured out which one of my Mother's side of the family this belonged to. Hello, all!! Seems like many are searching for their mystery Wards, so I'll post again. Rick's post is most closely related to mine. I have a George S. Ward, b. somewhere in VA 1778, appears in Jessamine Co, KY 1800, Woodford Co, KY 1820, Mercer Co 1830, Washington Co 1840, and Mercer Co 1850. In 1850 he is shown as a carpenter, and in his household are Mary Ward, age 30, Hannah Ward, age 24, Jeptha, age 12, and George, age 6. All were born in KY. George married Hester Veatch in Mercer Co 08Aug1814. I know that he was the father of James R. Ward, m. Mary James, widow of William James, 16Aug1842 Mercer Co. I suspect that George was the father of my gggrandfather, William H. Ward, b. Sep1816 Mercer Co. William and his family moved to Indiana by 1860, and George no longer appears in the census'. Anyone? Anne
My husband's line goes back to that cotton pickin' James B. Ward who refuses to cough up his parents' names in any AUTHENTIC records. It runs: James B. Ward> William Joseph/Josiah "Joe" (Diamond Joe) Ward> William Jasper Ward now there was a guy with stories....and then my husband's late father Jobie Jason Ward. They were generally in the southeast corner of AL and the Florida Panhandle. As an additional note to some who might be mired in their own mysterious lines in that area...old William Jasper Ward ("Bill") was a preacher who rode his horse and preached in many areas of that general part of the country. He married at least 5 times and had quite a few children. with different wives. Some of his children wound up in Texas. Some stayed in their own areas and some??? If any of you have any rumors of a circuit preacher named Ward we may connect. I'm not saying he was bad...just that he got around. You'll find his photo on this page: http://dianneward.homestead.com/JimFamilyPhotos.html Doesn't it seem as though there was a James Ward in every family in those days?....dianne > > Subject: Re: STILL SEARCHING - Sherry Jones > Date: Tue, 9 Jul 2002 08:45:38 -0400 > From: "Sherry Jones" <skjones@triad.rr.com> > To: WARD-L@rootsweb.com > > ...................to not want to be found. Well Rick as far as I know My James Ward was born in 1804, this is according to the 1850 census records of Pasquotank Co.NC. He is shown to be 46 years old. So this would put him at being born around 1804 or so. Could it be your James Ward? I have no idea, it is a possibility, but the only thing is that my James Ward's first son was born in 1829, so would they have had children back then and then gotten married later or would this have been considered a sin as they say. I don't think he was a Quaker, but who knows. I haven't even checked on the spelling of the last name maybe I should check into it and let you know if I find something... Do you know who the children of James and Mary were? My James' children were: William Alfred John Ward born 1829, died July 3, 1863, James Ward Jr. born 1830, Enoch Ward born 1835, William Ward born 1839, Stephen Ward born 1844, Sarah Ward born 1846, Ambros Ward born 1849. Hugh T. "Dan" Ward had one sister that we have confirmed - Laura A. Ward b. 1846 d. 1910, married Henry S. Daffron b. 1842 d. 1900. They are both buried in Coaling Cemetery, also. On Hugh's death certificate, his father's name is hard to make out but looks like Leon. It says his father was born in AL and whoever filled it out did not know his mother's name or where she was born. My grandfather had one sister, Ida Ward, who married a Claude Egger. They had one child named Wylodine and lived in Bessemer, Jefferson Co. (not far from Tuscaloosa.) There are numerous Ward families in the Tuscaloosa area of AL, but we have been unable to connect any of our family to any of them. If anyone has any clues to share would really appreciate hearing from you! Evelyn

Hello - I have a James Ward that seems to be related to no one. His time era is the late 1700s in Virginia. He was a scout for a Colonel Preston in western Virginia (now WVa). His wife was American Indian. I know of one daughter, Mary Ward, my ggg grandmother, who married John Kinder in 1809 in what is now Boone Co., WVa. I will bet none of you have info on this mysterious gentleman. Rick > It kind of stinks that everyone else can get all of the Ward's down > to a James Ward born close to or around the time period of the James Ward I >

We have three with red hair in my bunch. One male and two females. Two of these one male and one female have very, very, curly red hair. Anyone else got redheads with curls? My grandfather, William Henry Ward b. 1880 in Tuscaloosa Co., AL, had red hair and was full of blarney, though it is unknown if he was of Irish origin (no offense intended here!) His daughter, my mother Cecil Irma Ward b. 1911 in Bibb Co., AL, had red hair. Just curious if it was a Ward trademark. EvelynGet more from the Web.
