I will be contacting my local library today, which,by the way , has an extensive genealogy department and the local genealogy society. We are fortunate to have both facilities so near. I have been curious about the male descendants of John and Dameris - I have daughter Mary on paternal side and several John Wards on maternal side, all after 1700. Hopefully, this will lead to a lot of informative replies and useful information for Ward researchers---- Thanks, again. 1. James Ward in Mississippi in mid 1800s
    2. bfan
    3. Hi, I am new to the list. I am seeking info on a James Ward (middle name possibly Henry), who lived in the mid 1800s in Mississippi (most likely Pike County area). I just have his name and that he married a Eliza Jane Conerly (b. either 1842 or 1845, d. 1925 in Pike County, MS). They had two children (Fannie Mae Ward b. 1872 d 1958 and ?Leta Ida Ward b?). I know for sure that "Fannie Mae Ward is correct, and I think the sister was named Leta Ida, but could be wrong on this. James died and Eliza Jane remarried the 2nd time to a Brumsfield, and then when widowed again married a 3rd time to a Lewis. I would really like to be able to add to my "WARD" line, as I only have James' name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Betty

We believe that he grew up in Texas, probably Lone Oak, Rains, TX. or close by. He married 1st to a lady, that we think was named Jeneva McBrayer. His second marriage was to Ella "Iris" Fisher. We are specifically looking for his parents and any other info we can recieve. Thanks for your time and help, Natalie Piper

    3. Hi everyone, I have a little new information on my William Ward, so thought I'd post again, and see if this helped anyone recognize him. It seems my William Ward, was born between 1790, and 1800. I still don't know where, but am wondering if it could be N.C.? Some think that he was married twice. I descend from his second wife, Clarissa Pearson. The 1830 census for Fayette Co. Ga., which is where he married Clarissa in 1835, shows the following info. This info would be his children from a first wife. 1 male under 5 1 male age 5-10 2 males age 10-15 1 male age 30-40 1 female age 5-10 1 female age 20-30 1 female age 50-60 Now, he and Clarissa, had at least three sons, James, born 1836 Thomas, born 1838, and Wilson Lumpkin born 1842. There may have been another child. I know that Clarissa was born in N.C., and it maybe Burk or Burke Co. Now in the 1800 census it shows a William Ward for Burke Co. N.C. Does anyone have info on any Wards from Burke Co. N.C.? This is the first lead that I have had on my Wards and Pearsons. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Becky Carden, rec@hiwaay.net

    2. Linnea, No, I wasn't given the age of the mutations. Someone said that I had radom mutations. A lot looked like Native American and Irish. I do know that to be true on my mother's father's side. Now I find it is most likely to be true on my mother and her mother's side as well. Thanks for telling me more about DNA as I did not know the numbers had to do with the position on the DNA chain. Gee, by doing this, I am actually learning something. Some said that a Ward ancester was Native American. You never know, maybe someday it can be proven or not. Thank you, Pat Thank you

    3. Your maternal DNA results are based on something called mitochondrial DNA. Mitochondria are the parts of your cells that actually do respiration. They have their own genome, a small circular chromosome. At any rate, mitochondria are only inherited from your mother. Although the mtDNA from person to person is for the most part identical, there are small variations, evolved over thousands of years in non-critical parts of the chromosome-- and these have been inherited from the person who originally had the mutation. The numbers are the position on the chromosome where there are differences between different people (or different groups of people). The letters represent which base pair is present at that position. That mutation represents one specific maternal ancestor, who whose descendents seem to cluster in a specific area. I don't know if you were given information about the age of the particular mutations, but if you were, you could potentially trace the migration of your mitochondrial line. Sorry for the length. I just think this stuff is soooo cool! 1. DNA results
    2. List, My maternal DNA results are back. I wish to post them for others with results to compare them with. 16147 A 16223 T 16248 T 16320 T 16355 T 16154 C 16172 C 16519 C 199 C 204 C 152 C 73 G If there is anyone out there with a clear knowledge of how these numbers could be put to a plausable conclusion please let me know. I have compared them to the Cambridge Concordances as refered by Ancestry.com . The first two numbers list Netherthal and Estonia. I take it that is close to what may be my origins. Perhaps some of the Wards were from there. Pat
