Hi all, I need some help. I just recently discovered via some US census name index web sites that there are two Wards listed in the Steuben County, New York on the 1820 census. I've been trying to find a web site that shows something more than just an index of the names but have had no luck. Does anyone have access to the 1820 US Census of Steuben County, New York? If so, I would sure appreciate you looking up and sending me any info on the following two WARDs WARD CHARLES 136a REA WARD ELISHA 132 REA Supposedly, the number after each name is the page number of the National Archives microfilm of the county Steuben and the 3 upper case letters are an abreviation for the town; in this case Reading. Would sure appreciate any help that you can give. Carl Ward
I'm looking for some info about a Zebediah WARD. Here's what I know about him: According to US census records of Hancock County, Illinois 1850, his place of birth was in the state of New York in about the year 1815. He was in the state of Indiana from about 1832 to 1838 because that's the place of birth of all 4 of his children. Their names and birth dates are: William H. WARD, born about 1832 Caleb G. WARD, born 02 September 1835 Samuel J. WARD, born about 1836 and Lydia A. WARD, born about 1838. Zebediah WARD's wife's name was Martha A. born about 1825 in Ohio. Now, there was another Zebediah WARD that lived in Hancock County, Illinois in 1850 and he was also born in the state of New York 20 March 1816. This Zebediah was married to Arzilla Wright and their children were Marcus WARD, Lorinda WARD and Wright WARD. I am fairly certain this is not the same Zebediah WARD discussed above, There was also a Revolutionary War soldier Zebediah WARD born 1755, in Essex Co, New Jersey, discharged in New York in 1776, re-enlisted and served until 1780. He moved to New York in 1800, resided there about 12 yrs and then moved to Indiana territory. He was married to Sarah Zeluff. Their children (all born in in Essex County, New Jersey) were Zebediah WARD born between 1784-1787, David WARD, born Between 1780-1782, Hannah WARD born About 1777 and Peter Z. WARD born About 1792.... so it appears that neither one of these Zebediahs (Sr. or Jr.) could be my Zebediah WARD. I sure would appreciate hearing from anyone with any connection to my Zebediah WARD or any additional info related to the above data. Thanks in advance. Carl Ward.

Hello, Does anyone have any information on JAMES T. WARD, birthday unknown, but probably in Kentucky. I think the "T" is Thomas. James T. Ward married C. M. Denton in Henderson Co. KY in 1857 The marriage record of Ella Ward b. 1860/61 in Henderson Co. Ky says that her parents are Thomas Ward and Celia Denton. Ella Ward married my g grandfather David Franklin Sandusky in 1882 in Hamilton Co. IL. and died there in Jan. 1901 I have no other information on the family of Ella Ward. Would appreciate any information. Evalyn __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo! Personals. http://personals.yahoo.com
I've been trying to get into a Cleveland Ohio census of 1850. I tried using usgenweb.org but wasn't successful. Do you know how to do it? Judy
Hi Judy, Did you send me an email today? I thought I saw one before I went deleting a bunch and now don't see it. Maybe it was just my imagination - I hope so and not that I deleted it without knowing. By the way, I have a sister Judy. Inga, if you will send me you personal email address, I will send you my Ward information. Since the list doesn't accept attachments I will have to send it directly to you. Pat in Texas
Well ,Miriam So many things are similar. My ggrandfather Thomas was Irish, in fact the people he knew called him the little Irishman. To this day my father hates the British 2 generations down.He is 84. The British have never done anytthing to him personally, but it must be what his father told him.The family was in SanFranciso at one time, as one of the sisters Lidia had her picture taken in San Francisco that we have. I only know that on Thomas's death certificate he died in 1917 and was born in 1836 or there abouts. So this is weird. How many syblings were there in that family?Did they know about horses?,or racing horses? Wait for your answer. Judy
I don't remember either my father or grandfather talking about horses. If you want to hear something even weirder(I don't think I told you this) my grandfather, John Thomas Ward, married Lydia Kirby.Of my great-grandfather's siblings,I only know of Mary Ann b. 1836/34,Margaret b. 1834/36(never can remember which was born when), Bridget b. 1847. My great-grandfather,Robery W.(prob. William) was born 1845/1842.All of them were born in Ireland, some b. definitely in Tipperary. Their father was Timothy Ward and their mother was Bridget Ward nee Jonston b. 1799 in Ireland. You can see there's quite a few gaps there where other siblings would fit in. My grandfather's siblings were:Margaret Bridget/Cecilia,Bridget Ellen,Marie,William Robert,Ipetishia(Etta). All of them were born in San Francisco. --- Donley77@aol.com wrote: > Well ,Miriam So many things are similar. My > ggrandfather Thomas was Irish, in > fact the people he knew called him the little > Irishman. Greetings, My name is David Ray Bowman. I am the eldest son of Rachele Lorena (Holt) Bowman (Winthrop, AR, 1942), Daughter of Charles Leonidas Holt and Roxie Ann Ward (10/23/1900-1982). Roxie was the daughte of Charles Henry Ward and Martha Sims. While Roxie was born in Texas and died in Oklahoma City, she spent much of her life in Ashdown, AR and the surrounbding areas, and really always considered that home. We have recently finished a research in to my mothers fathers family, and the results were very exciting, so now my siblings and I are starting to delve into the Ward side of things. I look forward to talking with any of you about things WARD, and particularly any who can help with guidance on our direct family line. Dave Bowman Modesto, CA

Simon's siblings were: Obedience Ward, born 1790; Sarah Ward; Thomas Ward; Alexander Ward; Mary Ward; James Ward; Savry Ward; Rhody Ward; Rebecca Ward. Does anyone have any informtion about this family living in Richmond Co., GA in 1850. Simon and most of the children moved to Columbia Co., Ga by 1860. This same Simon received a land grant in the late 1830 while living in Richmond Co.,GA. I feel some of the children stayed in Richmond Co while the others moved. 1850 Census Richmond Co GA. > Simon WARD 41 M SC > Mary 41 F SC > James V.W. M GA > John L. 16 M GA > Mary G. 15 F GA <<<This is my ggrandmother and should be Mary Z. > Louisa 14 F GA > Amelia A. 12 GA > Henry Clay 8 M GA > Frances G. 6 M GA > Zachariah T. 4 M GA I found Mary ( the mother) living with this son in Richmond Co in 1880 census, he worked for the GA RR. > Andrew J. 3 M GA > William H.C. 1 M GA The wife, Mary, was Mary King before she married and must have been living in the Richmond Co GA as that is where they were married in 1830. Mary was supposed to have been of Dutch or German descent. If anyone can connect to this family I would like to exchange information with them. Beulah McCain BRM1945@aol.com
I too am looking for Wards that came to Washington State. Mine came from Kansas . What info I have from a local book-Pioneers of the Columbia, says that James Campbell Ward was born in 1832 in Kansas. I have found no real proof that he was born there only that he came from there. He was a veteran of the civil war. In 1867 he married Mary Jane Williams. In 1875 they headed west with a wagon train and James was scout because he could speak the indian language. They arrived in Oregon in 1876 in the Dalles area. Spring 1877 they moved to Latah Washington. In 1889 they moved to a homestead in Gifford, Stevens County, Washington. They started the first school, The Ward School. In 1906 James and Mary sold out and left for Talent Oregon, in 1910 they went to Forena Oregon, in 1917 they went to Ashland Oregon. James died there in 1923 and Mary died at Yelm Washington in 1928. Their children were: Anderson (1861- William Mulkey(1867-1953) Robert James (1869-1946) Charley(1871-1907 (my ggrandfather)Frances Clarence(1874-1923) Ada Anna (1877-1953) May D. (1879-1955) Joney C.(1882-1885) Nathan Jonathan(1884-1959) Ona Nancy(1886-1962) What I would like to find is more info on James Campbell Ward and Mary Jane Williams. I haven't found their parents. Don't know if any of these tie into anyone else searching here in Washington or Oregon. I do know this family scattered and some went to Oregon with James and Mary Jane and some went on into Canada. I've visited the old Ward Family Homestead here near Gifford. It's a beautiful piece of property on top of a hill overlooking the Columbia River. A piece of property I would give my eye teeth to own only it's not for sale. Any help is always appreciated. Laura Tarbert ltarbert@lightening-isp.com
