Beverly you and I come from the same area and ancestors to a point. I came from Theophilus, Thomas, Alexander, Thomas R., Barney, and Otto. Do you have information on any of the above. I would be glad to compare information with you. Frank Allen Ward
I will try to look at the microfilm Monday and take notes, I have written down in my book what pertained to my Wards and will try to get those posted this weekend. Some really interesting stories about the Ward pioneers I was facinated. I may start transcribing the film if enough people are interested. Linda, I would love to know a bit of the Wards you have comeing to America When and where. I wish I had early names to ask you about....But I can't get back before 1828, Robert Jones Ward b. AL, Parents b.SC. Would you have time to do us a bit of an outline? The prominent male names in my line are George, William, Robert. Thanks, Inga
We are most definitely interested in your microfilm finds. Know that it is always a good sized undertaking to transcribe. Your offer to share is most kind and very much appreciated by all. As I am a grandson of a Ward and don't know much about my own early ancestors, it is always a pleasure to read about someone else's and hope that someday I will stumble upon clues to mine. B. HI I dont know if I can be of any help but I have a roll of microfilm on the Ward family, it tells about them coming to America and the names and traces their ancestry to a certain point. I havent looked at it in a long time but I did take notes and will send them to the list if anyone is interested. Otherwise I will look at the film first chance I get and see if I can find anyone the list would like me to look and see if they are on the film. Hi, folks - I got my 1880 census info on Maria C. Ward (maybe, anyway!) This is only a possible match. Let me know if you recognize any of these folks: William WARD 66, laborer, b. England, f. born England, m. born England Mary WARD 66, wife, keeping house, b. Ireland ,f. born Ireland, m. born Ireland, cannot write John WARD 34, son, saloon keeper, single, b. Ireland, f. born England, m. born Ireland Maria WARD 24, daughter, works in store, single, b. Conn, f. born England, m. born Ireland Margarett WARD 23, daughter, dressmaker, single, sick with Malaria!, born Conn., f. born England, m. born Ireland The first names are so common that it may not be significant, but Maria's first born son was named William Ward Blackburn. She named her first daughter Marguerite Ward Blackburn and the second one Marie Antoinette Blackburn. Another coincidence (?) is that John Ward, above, was a saloon keeper. Maria C. Ward's husband Daniel Blackburn was working in a saloon in 1880. Hmmm.... However, I DO need to verify that the Daniel Blackburn Irene found (and the folks at Lineages found, too) is the CORRECT Daniel Blackburn. He's the only one of the right age in Connecticut in 1800. There's also the question of who are the Johanna WARD and Joseph H. WARD mentioned in the Colorado documents. They could be older siblings who had left home by the 1880 census, perhaps. Any thoughts? Hi, again, While I'm (not so patiently!) waiting for my film to arrive, I'd like to share a few more tidbits I've gleaned about my WARDs. My mother says her grandmother, Maria Cecelia WARD, was definitely Roman Catholic. This is borne out by the fact that her daughter Marie Antoinette BLACKBURN was baptised Catholic, and Maria's husband, Daniel J. BLACKBURN, was buried by the Catholic church. My mother remembers another daughter, Marguerite Ward BLACKBURN, also being Catholic. On Marie Antoinette BLACKBURN's baptismal certificate, one of the sponsors is "Johanna WARD." As lister Irene so helpfully supplied, there is a family of BLACKBURNs in Bristol, CT, in 1880. This family includes a Daniel BLACKBURN of the correct age to be Maria WARD's future husband. Interestingly, Daniel's MOTHER's name is Johanna. The Johanna WARD who sponsored Marie Antoinette may be a daughter of Johanna BLACKBURN who married a WARD (in which case we'd have a BLACKBURN brother and sister marrying a WARD brother and sister). Or Johanna (the mother) could have remarried into her daughter-in-law's family. Or it could just be a coincidence. (And I'm my own grandma!) The BLACKBURNs are in Connecticut in1884, as that's where the first child, William Ward BLACKBURN, was born. He was always known as "Uncle Ward" in the family. By 1889, they are in Durango, Colorado, as that's where Marie was born. They are still in Durango as of 1895, as Daniel J. BLACKBURN died in Durango and is buried there. In Daniel J. BLACKBURN's probate papers, one Joseph H. WARD is listed as a co-owner of real property with Daniel. I'm GUESSING that Joseph is either a brother-in-law or father-in-law. So, are there any WARDs from Bristol, CT or Durango, CO out there? Meanwhile, I'll be sitting by the mailbox...waiting...waiting... Sioux -- Sioux L. Hi Dennis, I know little of this part of my family. I was not interested in family history until after all of my family was gone. I have found out that my grandmother Martha Mary Ward was one of eight children, as follows: 1. Milton L. Ward b. 12/10/1855 d. 2/22/1914 2. Henry Madison Ward b. 2/6/1858 d. 7/11/1938 3. Julia Ward b. 12/12/1874 d. ? Their parents were Ezra B. Ward b.1/26/1826 d. ? Hello Sid, Thank you for getting back to me. I have very little information on the Ward's in my family. I have no dates for my gg grandfather. All I have on him is that his name is John Ward. He married Virginia "Jenny" Butcher. I have her birthdate as 1865 so I'm guessing his is somewhere around that date. I don't know where he was born. I know he is buried at Smith Bend, Texas in Coon Creek Cemetery. I looked for the graves but they are unmarked. I did find Virginia Butcher's brother, sister and brother in laws graves so I am assuming they are near there. I also know they had two children. Ira Ward and Adelia Ward. Ira Ward is buried in Waco, Texas. My grandmother, Jesse Ward Vigus, said all she knows about Adelia Ward is that she married a Bob Clark. This was her first marriage. She married a second time and had several children and lived in the Ft. Worth, Texas area. My John Ward could be a brother to your Mary Ward. I do not know. I would love to find a link somewhere. ----- Original Message ----- From: ""Sid \"Buddy\" Moore"" <smoore@ojai.net> To: <WARD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 14, 2001 7:36 PM Subject: Re: Wards in Texas > Hello Denise, > > Do you have any WARD's in the Ellis County area? > > My grandmother, Mary WARD was born 4/4/1866 in Italy, Texas.
