I may have a colon ward who is the same as you are looking for. I will not be able to research for a day or two. I am not sure of the spelling of the first name. Are sure of spelling of first name on yours. Mine may be Calin or Colin or almost any variation. I think he killed his father when he was about 14 years old and may have had some Cherokee in him. He was mostly Irish however. Let me know if this sounds like same person. thanks chuck ward ----- Original Message ----- From: <Sandlapper007@aol.com> To: <WARD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 23, 2002 8:12 AM Subject: COLON WARD > I AM TRYING TO FIND INFORMATION ABOUT COLON WARD. G'day everyone Herewith a WARD connection in my family. If anyone knows of them or has a link, please feel free to make contact. My maternal great grandfather was Edward CORNWALL who, we believe, married twice although we know absolutely nothing, at this time, of his first wife. However, second wife was Emma WARD who also appears to have been married previously, married name STAFF. Where Emma came from and when is still a mystery? She married Edward, a Cordwainer (Shoemaker/repairer), May 1879 in Newington, Surrey and one of their children, born at 59 Neate Street, Camberwell, south London, was John Henry CORNWALL, my grandfather. The only other bit of information I have, is that Emma's father was William WARD, also a Cordwainer. With best regards Gerald E Taylor (known as Gerry) Chesham, Bucks
Do you know if any of these Wards(children) had a son named James Ward-b: 1800 or 1804 whom may have married a Nancy (have no last name) and then in 1850 married Nancy Bundy?. He and his first wife's Children's names were: William Alfred Ward-b: 1829, James Ward Jr.-b: 1830, Enoch Ward-b: 1835, William Ward-b: 1839, Stephen Ward-b: 1844, Sarah Ward-b: 1846, Ambros Ward-b: 1849. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ellen" <ellen@bcpl.net> To: <WARD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 23, 2002 12:11 AM Subject: Wards in North Carolina > It seems that William Ward and Herman Husbands, both of Cecil Co., MD, appeared on Sandy Creek in Orange Co NC at about the same time (abt. 1750). It seems that William Ward and Herman Husbands, both of Cecil Co., MD, appeared on Sandy Creek in Orange Co NC at about the same time (abt. 1750). Hi Denise, Thanks for your reply! Nope sorry no John Ward on my new list! But I don't know the children of the children I have listed and I I don't know any sibling of my James O. Ward. Sooooo, Sorry not a this point yet. But if I run across anything that may interest you I will file your email address and send it to you! I do believe from my small amount of research on the Ward side that lots of family went from AL to TX. together! Ya never know! Hope to connect! Leanne, I hope you have luck in finding James. From my searching there seems to be many Ward's from Oxfordshire and i have found it impossible to find my connections there to date. Unfortunately, i have no idea which town or village he came from. If you ever come across a David Ward (Born around 1838) or his father David Charles Ward in your searching i would be very grateful to know. I think David was a rare name back then, so, if you come across one please let me know. G'day Brenda, I'd be inclined to contact Salisbury Cathedral and/or the Church of England Archives in England. The timeframe you are looking at was fairly tumultuous for the Church with Roman Catholics and the Church of England and the Monarchy all going every which way. I would also believe that there could be a biography of the man which if you could find it could provide some answers. Again the Cathedral or Archives could help. My understanding is that it was common in those days for clergy to practise law. So few people could read and/.or write the two "jobs" sort of went together. No answers for you but a couple of suggestions which may help. I'd be quite interested in a summary of Bishop Ward's life if you are successful in tracking down more information Good Luck Chris ----- Original Message ----- From: <BrendReed@aol.com> To: <WARD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 20, 2002 11:22 PM Subject: SETH WARD, BISHOP OF EXETER & SALISBURY 1616-1689
