    1. Desc. of Peter Ward of Scotland and Peter Ward, Rev. War, NJ
    2. Joachim Wilck
    3. Dear listers, I hit a jackpot on Ancestry.com this morning; learned that the family I'm looking for includes Maj. Peter and Maria COLFAX WARD; Capt. Peter Ward of NJ, a Revolutionary officer, and Peter Ward who emigrated from Scotland prior to the Revolution. This info still lacks specific locations, but does anyone have this line? I'm struggling to find a JOHN WARD born about 1800 in NJ, probably a cousin to HAMILTON WARD, a jurist in New York state. Please tell me I'm gonna find my guys! TIA, Debbie in Ohio

    1. West Virginia WARDs
    2. Carl Ward
    3. Hi folks, I am looking for a Charles Ward or the parents of a Charles Ward, in West Virginia or surrounding counties between the years 1805 and 1836. The records found to date indicate that this Charles was born in Allegany County, New York in 1805 and showed up in Adams County, Illinois in 1836, where he married and had a relatively large family. But, according to an old family "hand-me-down" story just recently found, Charles migrated to Illinois sometime during that 1805 and 1836 time frame, by riding a mule from West Virginia to Golden, Illinois. Golden is in fact, in Adams County, Illinois. Does anyone have any record showing a Charles Ward or a child of some family of WARDs that's about the right age, in the counties of West Virginia during that time frame? Would sure appreciate hearing from you, if so or if you have any suggestions. Carl W. Ward

    1. Edward Ward of SC
    2. Johnnie Cook
    3. Hello List: Are any of you familiar with Edward Ward who was born around 1800 in SC? He is married to Tarzetta ? in the 1860 Columbia County census. There is quiet an age difference (25) and several small children. This is probably a second marriage for him. I am trying to determine if this is my GGGrandfather. Family history says that my GGGrandmother's name was Priscilla, but this family is from the right area and time and with correct names for the children. Can anyone help me? Also where would the name Tarzetta come from? I have never heard of this. Thanks, John Cook ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. Beverly, Thanks for your reply, I am sometimes easily confused. I have been told my Ward ancestors were part Black Dutch. I had heard it was sometimes used to hide Native American bloodlines. 3. Julia, Sorry if I did not make myseslf clear but the list I was speaking of was a Rootsweb list called Blaxk-Dutch-L which deals with the research of the black-dutch culture which in many cases just happens to tie into our native American (mixed) ancestry. The removsl of native Americans began long before the "trail of tears" as in the CREEK removal from Georgia ... see one article here " http://ngeorgia.com/history/creekhistory.html If there are CREEK roles taken during any of this time period I am not aware of them myself though they could exist I am sure. Perhaps somemone more educated in the subject would be able to tell you. Again I apologize if my earlier post confused you or anyone else. Absolutely the best advice possible, given the genealogies of varying quality submitted to the LDS database... [Ensign] William WARDE, born North Leigh, Oxfordshire 16 August 1632, emigrated to America about 1650, married (1) on 8 June 1658, Sarah PHELPS (b. about 1636, died 9 July 1659 [two weeks after the birth of their first and only child]]; William married (2) on 28 March 1660 Phebe FENNER (christened 5 January 1634, died 1 September 1691). William died 28 March 1690 in Middletown. They had nine children, including Thomas [I] and William. A good summary of this is "Some Descendants of William Ward, of Middletown CT" by M. Wheeler Molyneaux, 1983 (Long Beach CA). It appears the line (working backward) is: Elisha WARD son of Josiah WARD Jr. and Mary ______; he was son of Josiah WARD and Mary HEDGES; he was son of Daniel WARD and Eunice BEADLE; he was son of William WARD and Agibail COLLINS; he was son of William WARDE and Phebe FENNER I think the Molyneaux book is on LDS microfilm; I finally found a copy at the Library of Congress. It doesn't go beyond Elisha, but Kathy Funk, [email protected], sent me a writeup on the descendants of Calvin WARD, who is in that line that went to Portage County OH, and she may have more info. 3. I also have a Josiah and Mary WARD in my database... This Josiah WARD was born 27 Dec.1817, Licking Co. OH and married there on 21 Feb. 1839 to Mary Magdalene BURNER. They had eight children: Rebecca Elizabeth, Elias Spencer, Sara Catherine, Jonas Henry, Isaac Manchester, Roland Finley, Mary Evaline (Eva) and Orval Pliny WARD. The father of my Josiah WARD was Jonas WARD, Jr. who married Elizabeth DeWEESE. Many details are being gathered on the family of Jonas, Jr. and Elizabeth but all the family researchers are hitting a 'brick wall' on additional information on the parents of Jonas Jr. who are thought to be Jonas (Sr.) and Ph(o)ebe WARD WARD. Any other family members out there??? Pat J. > This Elisha Ward was the son of Josiah, Jr., and Mary Ward who had > seven children. 1. Re: Native American Ward's on Trail of Tears GRIFFIN & WARD
    2. Shirley, Your mention of GRIFFIN associated with WARD caught my attention. Look at this census info and see the GRIFFIN name. I would like to see if we have the same GRIFFIN and WARD families. 3. To Jim and Pat, thank you for putting up the link for Newark Burying grounds. My guys aren't in there, but it prompts me to beg again, please, if anyone knows of other genealogies that have Wards in NJ, please let us all know. I just learned a couple weeks ago that I have a "John Ward" (yes, another John, only my thousandth) and a "Peter Ward", both born around 1800 in NJ. No county or city given, and I don't know what to do next! More recent generations lived in New York state, and I suspect they came from New England. I could be wrong, I don't care, as long as I find out more about them! Collateral names are:SHEPARD, CLEVELAND Thanks, Deb in Ohio

    1. Re: Re: Albert Dutton WARD
    2. Dear Chris, In mt files, I do have an Albert D. Ward, b, about 1827 in Ohio, who was married on Dec.4,1848 in Washington Co., IN. to a Hannah Adams, b.about 1830 in Ohio. His parents were Elisha Ward, b.Sep. 26, 1790 in Steuben Co., N.Y., d.April 01,1857, in Roxbury, Morgan Co., OH., AND Sophia Perkins Sinclair, b.Mar.30, 1793, in Chenango, Madison Co., N.Y., d.Feb.11,1867, in Iowa. They were married on December 25, 1811, in Morgan Co., OH. They had 13 children. Albert D. Ward, was the 8th child. The other children were: Ann, Aaron, Sabra, Electa, Sophia, Clairissa, Daniel Sinclair, (Albert D.), Esther, Eunice, Celestia Zephia, Josiah Perkins, and Calvin M. Ward. This Elisha Ward was the son of Josiah, Jr., and Mary Ward who had seven children. Elisha was married a second time to a Mindwell Harris and had three children with her. This Ward family lineage traces back to William Warde, Sr., b.August 16, 1632, in North Lehigh, Oxfordshire, England, d.March 28, 1690, in Middletown, Middlesex Co., CT., who was married on October 20, 1658, in Fairfield, Fairfield Co., CT., to Phebe Fenner, b.January 05, 1633/34, in Watertown, Litchfield Co., CT., d.September 01, 1691, in Middletown, Middlesex Co., CT. Now, don't take this data as gospel. I am terrible with keeping my sources intact, but some of this data was found at the LDS's, from Ward family messages and at various other sources. Use the data only as a guide!!! If you like, I can send you a HUGE GED file where you might be able to sort out the various sources. Good Luck, Ward Lee Ward AKA [email protected] AND AKA [email protected] The Kansas "Genie"
