    3. Linda, By chance did your WARD line go to Abbeville, SC, then on to AL via TN? My WEEMS were in Augusta Co, VA abt 1740-1763, then moved to Abbeville. They were there until sometime after the turn of the century. My WEEMS (1801, SC) shows up 1830 in Greene Co, AL married to Rachel (1804, TN). Some folks think she was a WARD. Next door to my family was a Mary WARD (1783, SC) and her widowed daughter, Catherine Ward EDWARDS (1806, TN). The son's name was Francis Ward.I am wondering if these are the same James and Francis Ward buried beside my gGrand-father Willis M. Ward, d1884, in the eastern part of West Shady Grove Cemetery just south of Jacksonville, TX. I would be most appreciative to obtain any small bit of information. Helen WARD Anderson

    3. You are absolutely correct, we seem to have slipped off topic a bit. While this discussion may seem interesting in the abstract to some people also interested in genealogy, it is more appropriate for a more generally inclined group. Unfortunately, it's been popping up in way too many of the surname mailing lists and being saved in all their archives. Please let this be the last comment on this topic here and move on to that which is related to our WARD research. Thanks for your cooperation.
