Lynn, I have been looking for a family of Wards that lived in or around College Corner, Ohio (Indiana not sure the town is split). They raised their Granddaughter Florence Emma Alvey. Florence's parents Charles and Sara (Ward) Alvey both died shortly after her birth in 1858. I believe they lived in Elwood, Indiana. Sara died when Florence was 18 months old and Charles died in 1862 in the Civil War... Florence was my gggrandmother. Do any of these names send out any flares. I do not know what the Grandparents first names were. Hope something rings the preverbal bell...Della J. I found there are a few errors in this book on my lines also. So it may be so with your names. I am hoping to get a copy of this book to share with the list. It is realy time consuming to write long hand from the film then type it to my collection hehe. The film I am taking notes from has extensive info on each of the names mentioned. I am trying to find a place to buy that book so that I can scan the pages and email individually to those interested. I find the author in the book says to order copies or photos contact her and gives her address. I will be doing that shortly. Linda ps I have 3 separate Ward lines in my family. So all the names in the book connect to me somewhere between the 3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tommie Horn <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 19, 2000 12:01 AM Subject: Re: More Ward info From Book > Linda, Do you know anymore on the Nancy and Phoebe Ward mentioned in this > will? Linda's post about early Washington Co. Wards caught my eye although her names and later residence in Belmont Co. didn't match mine. My Ward family also came to Washington Co. in the 1790s and settled in Licking Co. Maybe we could all post our OH connections since there seem to be many early WARDs in OH? Here comes my 'brick wall' Jonas WARD (b. 1743) m. Linda, Do you know anymore on the Nancy and Phoebe Ward mentioned in this will? I know you are just recording things for the list, which we appreciate, but is this by chance your family. My ggggrandmother, Nancy Ward b. Nov. 14, 1837 and her sister Phoebe Ward b. Oct. 25, 1839, both married my ggggrandfather Abraham England. If this is your family or connected to any of the others I have a picture of the England Homestead in Burr Oak, Jewel County, Kansas if anyone would like a jpeg of it. I show that a John and Lucy Ward were their parents with Daniel, John, & Hannah their siblings but this comes from another list and is not proven yet. He has the date on this will as 1821 so it would be before these girls were born but they could be related since it seems odd to have two sets of Ward sisters named the same. Hi, I found a small breakthrough here on my WARD line for the birthplace of my gg-grandfather and 2 of his brothers. I received the following information in Civil War Military Records (not just Pension Records) for Caleb WARD, Nelson W. WARD and Joseph WARD. Caleb WARD, b. 1843 in Beaver Co., PA (my gg-grandfather), d. 1897 Boone Co, AR Joseph WARD, b. 1839 in Columbiana Co., OH (just across the state line from Beaver Co., PA), d. abt. 1915 Greene Co, MO Nelson W. WARD, b. 1827 in Columbiana Co., OH, d. 1929 Long Beach, CA They had at least 3 other siblings: David, b. abt. 1835 Rebecca J., b. abt 1846 Robert J., b. abt. 1848 Their parents were Jacob WARD and Anna (Ann) SMITH, married abt 1834. I do not know here Jacob and Anna were born or married. Jacob died abt. 1850 in Gallia Co., OH. Anna died abt. 1879-1880 in Greene Co, MO and when she died her last name was DENNEY. Any connections out there? Marsha M. Ward Monterey, CA
