    3. Since quite a few seem to be talking about WARDs from Tennessee and Arkansas, I'll take a chance and post once again. My ggrandfather, William Estes WARD b.20 Nov 1852 in Arkansas (1880 Cass Co, TX census), m Ada Elizabeth (JARRELL) PHARIS 9 Dec 1874, ?TX. Ada came to the marriage with a daughter, Ella PHARIS abt 3 1/2 yrs old, born in LA. Wm and Ada had five girls: Texanna b. 9 July 1875 (married HODGES), Minnie Ola b. 31 Mar 1878 (m McMILLAN), Willie b. 5 June 1880 d 8 Aug 1880, Birdie Effie b. 25 Feb 1884 (m SHERILL) and my grandmother Ethel Daniel b. 18 Oct 1886 (m R.F. SAMS Denton Co, TX 1902). He disappeared in TX aft 1886 on a 'business trip' (He may have been a Bible salesman, but was listed in the census as a farmer) and never came home. I need 1) confirmation he was born in Arkansas 2) any information about his parents and siblings. If this is familiar to anyone, PLEASE contact me! Even if you can only point me in the right direction--please do!!! Samantha California

    3. Those of you who have some ancestors in eastern Virginia and NC - wonder if you connect with a branch of Wards described in these paragraphs: When Hamilton Ward was five years of age (cir. 1834) the family removed to Green Spring Plantation, near old Jamestown, in James City County, in the State of Virginia. This plantation was owned by Robert and John Ward, who had become men of some property, and who also owned a line of schooners which ran from the plantation and other ports in VA to New York City; it was sold by Robert in 1886. Green Spring was a historic spot. It had been the home of Sir William Berkely, the bloody royal Governor of Virginia, and a number of his successors, Famous men of the Colonial period were buried there...Old Jamestown was but founr miles distant, and Williamsburg but eight miles..... Hey ancestor hunters, do you realize what that real estate would be worth now? It's right near Busch Gardens, Williamsburg..and my Ward ancestors didn't leave me didlysquat! Deb

    2. Dear Ward Lee Ward, This doesn't look like my husband's line, but I'll keep it (and you!) in mind in case something turns up that connects them. I just discovered that John Calvin WARD's fa/mo were Thomas J. Ward (died 20 Apr 1933) and Mary Alice (Carroll) WARD (born possibly in Red Level, Coffee Co., AL, died 30 Dec 1939). I know that they were in AL and FL and possibly GA. All the ones I know were "Southern Born" (me, too). Their migration route is a mystery. There could be some "Yankees" in there! My brother-in-law knows more about them than my husband and we expect to see him in about three weeks. We'll compare notes. Thanks for your help. I appreciate your taking the time to reply. 3. Mike, Do you have any other information on Aaron Ward? Especially any brothers and/or sisters, or possibly parents? I've got a stubborn Ward ancestor that will not let me trace him back! He's the ever-elusive Abraham P. Ward, that I'm beginning to think was transmogrified in NJ without benefit of parents!!
