hi List Is anyone researching the above WARD family? Regards Debbie
Ok, since there seems to be a lot of acction lately I'll list my Wards and see if any of you find any of them familiar. I am looking for info on James Campbell Ward born the 30th of May 1832 in Kansas. He married Mary Jane Williams. She is listed in family info as being born in Kansas also. They had the following children: Ona Nancy Anderson (Anse) William Mulkey Charley Ada Anna May Daisy Joney C. Nathan Jonathan Frances Clarence. They moved to Washington State in the late 1800's and later to Oregon. Mary Jane is buried in Yelm, Washington. Any info on either of the parents would be appreciated. Laura [email protected]
Vickki, In case you didn't read my message to Brenda, I'm looking for William Estes WARD b 20 Nov 1852 probably born in Arkansas. Don't know when he went to TX, but his five daughters were born there (?counties). I have him, his wife Ada Jarrell (1. PHARIS, 2.) WARD (b 19 July 1851 DeKalb Co, GA) and his stepdaughter Ella (listed as daughter) and his two oldest daughters, Texanna and Minnie Ola--listed in the 1880 Cass Co, TX census. Would appreciate knowing the counties in Arkansas and Texas where your WARDs were so I can expand my area of research. And if you happen to have any info on my William, I wouldn't turn it down......... Samantha California
Brenda G........ You mentioned after 1810 you concentrate on WARDs from TN, KY and AR. Do you have a William Estes WARD b 20 Nov 1852 (poss Arkansas according to the 1880 Cass Co, TX census)? If not, I would appreciate County Names from those states containing your WARDs so I can enlarge my area of research. Somehow I gotta get over this brick wall.........! Samantha California
I have a Phebe WARD (b. Oct. 1747?) and a Jonas WARD (b. Apr. 1743?), from different WARD families, parents unknown, place of birth in England unknown, ship transporting them unknown...you get the picture. ;-) They were in VA by 1788 as far as I know. P.S. Don't have siblings (if any) either. :-(
In looking for the graves of my Ward family in Coffey County Kansas, I found several other Wards with no apparent connection to mine. I even took some pictures of the headstones. So, If you are looking for Wards in that area, I'd be glad to list them. ~Suz
It fits. I know Jane's mother and father and most of her brother's and sister's ended up in Arkansas. Jane moved to Texas with her husband and family. Now the interesting thing I found fun... Nancy Bowen had a sister named Margaret (Peggy) Bowen. Nancy married John Ward, who in turn, had Jane Ward. Margaret (Peggy) married Thomas Jr. Gillespie (from Tazewell, VA) and they had a son Robert Gillespie. Jane Ward and Robert Gillespie get married and had my great great great grandfather, John Ward Gillespie. They were first cousins AND husband and wife. I get a double wham from the Bowen's. For now, Vikki Wayne Henderson wrote: > > Was your Jane Ward born about 1806? I have Henry Ward born 1810 who was a > son of John Ward and Nancy Bowen. Henry died in June 1882 in Indian > Territory. I have not been able to find what part of England my Wards came from nor when they came. If anyone can identify Wards arriving from England when and where it would be helpful.
To Sid in CA: I have some Ward's in Troupe Texas around 1889. I haven't checked to see what county Troupe is in. Could this be related to the Ward's you're looking for? Joyce

My Wards are James Ward and Lucinda Bias, married in Ind. in 1831 and migrated to Texas with one married son Michael and wife Mary Jane Wyatt and other children at home. Are these your Wards in Mathis Co.?
Hi, I am only showing the first 3 generations of my Ward family. If anyone is interested in anything else and I have something I will be glad to send it to you. Most of the information shown here was from a Ward book that was done 20 yrs. ago. According to the author Benjamin came directly from England, although I others claim he was born in VA. I have no proof either way. I would love to find Benjamin's parents or sibilings. Also, his wife Selah's maiden name, most use Duke, but have found some that show it as Chapman. I am in the process of adding all the names in the book I have to my family tree maker, which is taking longer then I expected. The book is not indexed so hopefully once I have it all entered I may be able to assist some of you. Some of the Wards moved West and some North. If anyone has any questions, comments or find any errors please let me know. Melanie Descendants of Benjamin Ward Generation No. 1 1. BENJAMIN1 WARD was born Abt. 1740 in Virginia, and died Abt. One more thing about Ellis Co. My great great grandfather was John Ward Gillespie from Tazewell Co., VA and he moved with his wife and children to Kaufman, Kaufman Co. TX (next door) in the 1850's where he was the first sheriff and later judge for that county. He was the son of Jane Ward from Wards Cove, Tazewell Co., VA. Jane's parents were Nancy Bowen and John Ward, from Tazewell Co., VA..... Kaufman is about 30 miles from Ellis Co. depending where in Ellis your looking. I know that more family moved to this area. My 3x great grandmother and grandfather, Jane Ward and Robert Gillespie both died in Kaufman, TX in 1872 and 1874. If you think these Texas roots might have a connection just let me know. Mathis, Texas is north west of Corpus Christi in San Patricio Co., on Hwy. 37... Ellis Co. is directly south of Dallas, Dallas Co. I would say Ellis and Mathis are about 400 miles from each other.
