Irene, Sue, and others interested -- This being a 'family' list it would seem to me that ANY avenue would be worth conideration... not just statistics. I just received a number or newspaper articles that identified my great=uncle by his "high cheek bones" ( he was murdered in 1923) took 5 days after the body was found for someone to Think this might be kin.

No need to defend this idea as it's tried and true. I have the odd name of Meloria/Ameloria in one of my lines that does seem to be passed down, and I hope it will lead me past a brick wall some day. But since all the names being sent to the list weren't in the Ward lines, the discussion belonged in a more generic forum where those of all surnames could benefit. And also somewhere where the conversation could be more properly archived for later retrieval. There's a lot of wonderful ideas out there to be used in our search for our ancestors. So many so that everyone wins if they are appropriately directed, whether it be to the surname lists, the county lists, or the general lists, etc. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about my Wards to know what color of hair they had. :( Irene
(No offense meant to the humor challenged) Irene. At least you have a Galaxy and a Planet ---- My WARDS were surely in a 'witness protection program' under Assumed Names!

Please refreash us as to your >wandering Wards. >Thanks Well, in the case of my Wards, I'm sure whatever name I was told for their location was probably colorful. ;) In actuality, I was never told exactly what galaxy or planet, I only got rather odd little hints here and there. From what I've been able to find out so far, the galaxy turns out to be Canada, and the planet turns out to be Ontario. But WHERE exactly in that vast expanse of space they were, and any info of ancestors past that, has turned out to be a bit more difficult to uncover. BTW, this brings up an interesting point, I haven't posted my own line since before Christmas. I found where I had started to update my post some time ago, sitting in the outbox where I must have left it after getting side tracked with something else. I guess I never completed it to send to the list. I'm swamped this week after being gone for the holiday but I'll try to get on that as soon as I catch back up. Thanks for reminding me. TAFN! Irene
If genetics can help find some of our missing family, I'm all for it. If not why not talk on a different channel in space. I am blond and blue eyed, fair skin. When I was very young my hair was actually white. I was the only one around who stand up, when hiding, in the game "hide and seek", next to a bail of cotton and not be seen. Can any one use this info to find my missing Ezra WARD? [email protected] wrote: > > But, genetics are a part of genealogy. I received it from another list. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that it is true. If anyone has more information on this subject please post it to the list. Beulah McCain <Heritage Quest is going online with the entire US Census, all 12,555 rolls of film. The U.S. Census from 1790 to 1920, fully digitized is going online. Hello Everyone, I am just amazed at the blue eyes that have followed the path of the WARD's, roots are just wonderful!!!! Happy Hunting! Susan PI (Ward) BEDFORD, BEUCUS, CASPERSON, CHRISTENSEN, HOCH, MAJOR, MORRIS, MICHEL, RETTBERG, WARD
Where did you lose your Ezra Ward? Or should I ask where he appeared. The Wards seem to do this hocus pocus, now you see us now you don't. There are quite a few Ward lines with biblical names. Maybe we can help with a bit more info.
Thanks Irene, I did ask if anyone minded before asking the question and certainly didn't wish to upset anyone. But I will say in defence of this idea since the first list started to come in 6 people have actually connected with relatives that they didn't even know they had due to the unusual names connecting and ringing bells. For that little gift I am proud to have a bit of a hand. Again I apologise to everyone on the Ward list and to all those people who were interested in the Entomology side of Genealogy I thank you for all names sent so far. By the way I'm a Ward and don't have red hair and neither does anyone in our Lancashire Ward side. Thanks again and apologies Sue
Tammy, I noticed your maiden name is Hill which is mine also. My Wards join in on my grandmother's side. I was wondering about yours and maybe some dates. My grandmother Tommie Gilliam m. Fred William Hill. Tommie's gggrandmother was a Nancy Ward m. to Bernard England. I know the connection in years is way off but thought I would ask Tommie Hill Horn ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, June 30, 2000 6:27 PM Subject: Re: Strange and stranger names > But, genetics are a part of genealogy. Hi, Tammy! My grandmother, Bervil Ward Roper, was very dark - olive skin, dark hair, dark eyes. Her sister, Beatrice Ward Jones had red hair. I don't remember anything else about her (Beatrice). My grandmother Roper died in 1937. Evidently, there is a strain of red hair which runs through the Ward family. My ggrandfather was named Thomas Ward (as was 1/2 of the universe) and came from TN. I have no info about hair or eye color with him. My dad had blond hair and light, light blue eyes as a child. Bebe Roper Byerly
My Wards ere to have come out of Virginia to NC, GA, AL (where my missing link remains missing) then on west to MS, AR,TX. My Grandfather George William Ward had red hair (I am told) he had gone totally grey before I remember him. His eyes were a light ice blue. Three of his sons had red hair. Two sons and both daughters had dark brown to almost black hair. The two dark haired boys had deep brown eyes while the girls eyes were blue/hazel. I remember two of my grandfather's sisters, one had brown hair and hazel eyes while the other had blue eyes, but her hair had also lost its color before I was old enough to remember. The only pictures I have seen of my Ggrandfather were black and white, but I will ask around about his hair color and eyes.
What galaxy were you told that planet was in? Please refreash us as to your wandering Wards. Thanks
Please get me off this list. The messages are stupid.Good research would be helpful. Hi all! We interrupt this program for a short announcement.... Everyone wishing to send in their unusual given names, needs to email them directly to Sue at the address she supplied instead of to the list. Whereas the hair and eye colo(u)r conversation is on topic as long as it deals with the characteristics of our WARD ancestors, the name discussion should be steered towards a more generic forum as it relates to all our surnames. We now return you to your regular programming.... And I'll go back to trying to remember what the name of that planet Grandma used to always say Grandpa's family came from, it's the only clue I've got at this point. Irene WARD listowner
Can we get back to genealogy, and not an endless list of given names, and talk about eye and hair color? Thank you.
