Dear Don & Sioux, I can't help you with your WARD ancestors - as I haven't found a link to CT nor Mass. At least I think mine early on lived in the North east part of America. But I wanted to wish you both success in your search & to thank you for posting your info on the WARD list! I suspect my husband's WARD line might have had some Native American ancestry but I haven't found proof of that -yet. My husband's gr-gr-grandfather was William WARD from England & he married a woman born in Ohio. And their son Mahlon James WARD was born in 1837/38 in Ohio - probably in Hancock Co, OH and married there in 1861. Mahlon & his wife had 7 children (Zophar, George, Anthony, Orion, Daniel, Emily, & Chauncey) all while moving around a lot: from Ohio in 1861 to Indiana in 1862 to Michigan in 1864 to Pennsylvania in 1868 to Wisconsin in 1872 to Missouri in 1887 to South Dakota in 1900. I can't find the reason why they moved around so much. Mahlon's son, Orion married a woman named Elizabeth FIELDS who I also think may have had some Native American ancestors. Hi List, I am a descendent of William Ward and Hannah Millar of Aston. I have researched the ward family as part of the my bigger family tree. I have them on my site if there is any wards that would like to view them and just maybe recognise any one on the site. Wallaceburg Twp.They were living with his G/parents SAMUEL and DORCAS MCCULLOUGH (MCCULLAR).with his mother RACHEL VANDERVER and a sister MARINDA E VANDERVER (Rinda). JOHN'S wife was listed as VILUMINA. bn in AR (abt 1860-61) In 1942 Johns youngest dau. NOBEAN(NOVIE) (VANDEVER) ELLEDGE made appl. for a ss# and ststed her father was JOHN ERVIN VANDEVER and mother was VIOLA R WARD. JOHN had four kids when he remarried ,some time before 1894. I have a William John Ward b 26 Jun 1803 in England, son of Thomas William Ward b abt 1767 in England, m Sarah Jane Love 0Oct 1802, d bet 1850 and 1860 probably in Fayette Co AL. I have no more information on him, have some on his siblings. He is the eldest of eleven children. Our descendent is his brother, George J b 1815 in London England. Our line comes on down through William Robert b abt 1840 in AL, to Benjamin S b 1874 in MS, to his grandmother, Ethel Agnes b 1904 in OK. Let me know if you need more information. I've been told that some WARDS immigrated from Europe to NE PA in the 1800s. My earliest ancestor is William WARD born in England maybe between 1800-1820. I think he "might" have lived in Pennsylvania or Ohio because his son lived in both of those states. I have a lot of unanswered questions about him. How old was he when he immigrated to the U.S.? How old was he when he fathered his son, Mahlon James WARD in 1837/38? Did he immigrate to Canada before he came to the U.S.? Can anyone suggest "if" -or "where" I should begin to try find the ship that brought William WARD to America sometime before 1837/38? All I know is that William WARD is that he married a woman -name unknown - who was born in England or Ohio. They had at least one son, Mahlon James WARD born 6 Nov 1837/38 in PA or OH. Mahlon James WARD married in 1861 in <Findlay>, Hancock Co, Ohio Francis (Fannie) Emily ROBERTS b 1945 in Wyandot co, OH whose parents were Mary WAGNER born 1812 of Wyandot county, OH and John ROBERTS b est 1810 in NY. Could they have come to the US? My Ward's did, about that time. Some went to Canada first, then onto California. My Ward's were from Walsall, and Belbroughton.
