    3. Subj: WAMSLEY~WEB NEWSLETTER #10 Date: 11/14/97 Hi Shirley, I found Dora G Romine Talbott, but I didn't find F C, Fred, nor Dr. Goff in my database. These are probably too new for some of my information. Thanks for keeping me informed on your research. It has really increased the size of my Talbott file. I really appreciate it. Susan ************************************************************************* ***************** Mary Ann (or anyone), When I went to Sue Moore's site that you told us about, I found an Albertus Wamsley who was married to Susanna Robertson. Who is he? his parents? - Wanda **************************************************************************** ** ******************* Judy, At the Hacker's Creek Pioneer Descendants site, I saw that you are researching "Canfield". My grandfather's brother, John Huff Wamsley, married Rebecca Alice Canfield (I do not know sho her parents were). Any connection? Also, Levi Smith's wife Sarah Wamsley was my gggrandfather's (Andrew Marcellus Wamsley) second cousin. Wanda **************************************************************************** ** ****************** Mary Ann, Here is the question that Hoyt asked in a previous newsletter: Jane Wamsley, born 1783 PA, dau. of William Wamsley, a Rev. War soldier. She married (1st) John Neely (died War of 1812); had children (1) Elizabeth, (2) Lewis, (3) Polly. She married (2nd) --------- Lambert and had children (4) Nancy and (5) Lucinda. Her oldest daughter Elizabeth, my gggmother, (1809-1868) married Noah Lambert (1805-1852) a son of her mother's 2nd husband by a previous marriage. After the death of Jane's 2nd husband, she lived in Switzerland Co., IN (1860); and subsequently with her daughter Elizabeth in Cedar Co, IA where she died. I am interested in any information regarding this Wamsley family, particularly as to Jane's ancestry. Responses, if any, to this newsletter or to: hoytee@aol.com **************************************************************************** ** ***************** All, Randolph County, West Virginia Genealogy Page (http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvrandol/) will be having a Randolph County Share Day in the future. I think that what they plan to do is to have people with Randolph County roots submit family information which will be available at the site for anyone to view. If you get a chance, visit the site and consider submitting something. It would be good for a project like this to be successful. The following is from the person who is getting this information together. --Wanda From: vfcrook@trellis.net (Valerie F. Crook) To: Wamsleyweb@aol.com Hi Wanda, The Share Day was set up by the former host of the Randolph Co. Website. It is not a particular "day" so to speak, rather an opportunity for everyone to share something that they have with other researchers. In the next few weeks, Rootsweb will have a search engine to come on-line that will allow us to search the WVGenWeb Archives. I will be moving the Share Day information to the Archives so that we may search them. Right now, the information can only be accessed from the Randolph Co. site. This may take some time as I am new to HTML. Please tell your "cousins" that they may send their Wamsley information to me and I will put it in the Archives as soon as possible. Thanks! Valerie FORREN Crook Monroe, NC vfcrook@trellis.net **************************************************************************** ** ****************** Wanda, Rec'd your good newsletter #9. Thanks much. Will just go over the Talbotts that I can find in the Frame Book.."The Harts of Randolph" published 1976 McClain Pub. Co. According to pg 346 Margaret Elizabeth Capito b. 1824 m. Jan 20, 1841 to Edward Stephens Talbott (son of Elisha & Amelia Stephens Talbott) Margaret & Edward's first ch. Lewis Creed Talbott was b. Apr 1843. They had 10 more children (listed in this Frame book) with the last one Charles Dowden b. 1866. Is there a marriage record for Margaret Capito & Elam Dowden Talbott? Believe her m. to Edward Stephen Talbott b. 1821 son of Elisha, Dr. Elam's older brother makes better sense? Wanda I feel Margaret was not Dr. Elam's wife. The Dr. Elam & Keziah Proudfoot marriage makes sense .. for wasn't Alexander's middle name Proudfoot IF the time frame is right. Is there more than one Alexander Talbott? I give up! Can't figure it out! :) BFN Shirley **************************************************************************** * ****************** Mary Ann just recently put me in touch with a Harper descendant who I have never corresponded with before. She is descended from William Harper, the brother of my gg-grandmother Mary Harper (the wife of Andrew Marcellus). If anyone is interested in her information, let me know and I will put it in the next newsletter. -Wanda **************************************************************************** ** ************* ANY IDEA WHO THIS PERSON MIGHT BE? Subj: RE: WAMSLEY/ CROUCH families Date: 97-11-05 11:41:25 EST From: fannin@mosquitonet.com (Joan Skilbred/William Fannin) To: Wamsleyweb@aol.com ('Wamsleyweb@aol.com') Dear Wanda, I am not sure if we are connected or not. I am a descendandt of Violet Crouch. She was born in North Carolina, and married Daniel Williams in Boonesborough in 1787. She died at Caney Creek, Kentucky and is buried on a small hill in Caney, Kentucky. She was about 60 years old at the time of her death. I do not know anything else about her, but I am still trying to find out who her family was. Joanie **************************************************************************** ** ************************************* VIRGINIA, WEST VIRGINIA AGREE TO DRAW THE LINE Bluemont - Virginia and West Virginia are on the verge of settling a dispute about a 15-mile boundary that has been undefined since Virginia split apart during the Civil War. A survey commissioned by the two states has determined the precise boundary, and the legislatures of Virginia and West Virginia are expected to ratify the boundary amendment in January, said state Sen. Charles Waddell, D-Loudoun. "It's a little bit of unfinished business from the Civil War," Waddell said yesterday. "I would envision a ceremony where the governor of Virginia and West Virginia shake hands across the border." The agreement should end conflicts about who provides fire, police and other public services to the two dozen or so residents living along the boundary and where the children go to school. The disputed line runs from the Potomac River at Harriers Ferry National Historic Park to the edge of Jefferson County in West Virginia and Loudoun County, Virginia.
