He was the oldest living son of Jasper Newton Wamsley and Julia Frances Motley. Jasper Wamsley was a native of Huttonsville, West Virginia; he met Howard's mother when his car broke down in Moneta, Virginia on the road in front of the Motley Farm. Howard was born May 22, 1909 in Roanoke, Virginia. In 1917, he came with his father to Petersburg, Virginia. He was married to Alma Neal Perkinson on September 1, 1928 and together they had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 9 great- grandchildren. They lived most of their married life in the small town of Ettrick, Virginia, part of Chesterfield, Virginia. In 1930 he started Ettrick Auto Service and H. E. Wamsley Trucking Company. Howard was the grandson of George Fisher Wamsley (former soldier, Company I, 19th Regular Cavalry, Confederate States of America) and S. Margaret Talbott (of the Barbour County, West Virginia Talbott Family). His maternal grandparents were James Daniel Motley and Mary Frances Foster, the original owners of the Motley Farm, Moneta, Virginia. He was the great-grandson of Andrew Marcellus Wamsley and Mary Harper of Valley Bend, Randolph County, West Virginia. Howard was the third and fourth great-grandson of immigrants who came to America in the mid- to late-1700's: John Crouch of Wales, William Talbott of Northumberland, England, John Wamsley of Linshire, England, Phillip Harper of Niederweiler, Rheinland Pfalz, Germany, and Joseph Mottley of England. <><><><><><<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Subj: 1850 Randolph Co Census Which Wamsleys? On the Talbotts... According to Catherine Hart Frame's book Harts of Randolph (Talbotts & Harts were connected) Also glad to see someone has the Proudfoot line more complete! These all are puzzles that never end! I see a few additions to your records: Pg 346 of Frame's book shows: Margaret Elizabeth CAPITO & Edward Stephens TALBOTT'S 11 (eleven) children as: 1. LEWIS CREED TALBOTT b. 1843 m. Susan Johnson 3 ch. 2. DANIEL B. TALBOTT b. 1845 m. Elizabeth Jane Wiseman 10 ch. 3. JERUSHA M. TALBOTT b. 1845 d 1874 m. Jacob Spotswood Thacker 1865.. 4 ch 4. As you can see, there are many children and much more information about each of these families. That would be good for another writing. It might be easier on all to do one family at a time. What do you think? There were other Elam Dowden Talbotts which makes this family "mixed up".. Frame's book pg 116: Lucy Lee BOSWORTH 1868-1956 m.
