For all of you, "old-timers" and "new- comers", if you want any of the past newsletters, just let me know and I will be glad to send them. Some of you who have requested past newsletters have had trouble opening and reading attached files, so unless you request that the newsletters be sent as an attached file, I will send each one as a seperate e- mail. I have tried to honor everyone's request for past newsletters. If I have accidentally overlooked any of your requests, please ask again. Feel free to give copies to anyone who wants them and does not have e-mail. Also - when you send in a question regarding Wamsley or related families, I put it in the next newsletter without an answer from me. This gives everyone equal opportunity to answer questions and send comments. I would like to subscribe to it. I am interested in the family of John Wamsley & Judith Dorcus who md in Anne Arundel MD and moved to Augusta County, VA. Their 6th child James Wamsley b Mar 6 1762 d 28 Feb 1842 in Lewis Co. VA is the particular one I would like information on. According to a record in the DAR library, this man substituted for Thomas Bland of Augusta Co. VA (Pendleton Co. later) in the revolution War. He md a Barbara Bland 1783 in Lewis Co. VA acc. to that record and your newsletter. Of course Lewis Co. wasn't in existence at that time, so I wonder what the source is for this information. I'm interested because I have heard that Margaret who was first wife of Thomas Bland may have been a Wamsley. I see no listing of a Margaret in the info on the Wamsley's. She would have been born about 1740 and died about 1792. I had never heard of a Barbara Bland in this area before seeing the above item last year, so I am very anxious to know more about her. Was she a daughter of Thomas Bland? I hope someone has an ironclad source for this information and can help me link her to a Bland family. Are any descendants of this couple on your list of correspondents on the Wamsleyweb? Thanks for any news on this family that may exist. There was a Bland family in Anne Arundel Co. MD in these early days, so it sounds like good information. Sincerely, Edith Lanning *You're right - Lewis County, Virginia (now West Virginia) was formed in 1816 from Harrison County and Randolph County.* ]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]] ]] ]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]] Hi Wanda, You emailed me a biography of George Fisher WAMSLEY in November to include in the Randolph County Archives. Two facts encourage me to send the information on my family: An Edward from Ireland is mentioned in your newsletter and my aunt indicated we were related to Amecedes Smith. She was called Mary, married a Walmsley and lived in Virginia. If there is any interest in the family listed below I will gladly share what information I have. Our direct line came from England to Ireland with the army of William III and/or with the Plantation movement under Cole. Walmsley's are listed in both groups.
