Hello all!! The following is a copy of a letter I received snail-mail from Phyllis Daniels: "I do not get your Wamsley newsletter, but a friend gave me a few of the latest ones. I found them very interesting...... I am a descendant of 2 of John Wamsley's sons - Matthew and Joseph, Sr. I have not done a lot of research on Matthew. And Joseph Sr. has been a real headache. I would love to know the last name of his 1st wife Eve and, also, the parents of Martha "Patsy" Jameson. I noticed in some of the newsletters quite a lot of information on the son of Joseph, Sr., Jesse. Jesse was my g-g-g-grandfather. In all of this data my g-g-grandmother, Mary Jane, was omitted. I would like to add her to the children of Jesse and Sarah Mace. Jesse Wamsley - b. 11 Mar 1795, d. 10 jun 1857, buried Jesse Wamsley Cem., Beckey's Creek, Randolph Co., WV. m. ca. 1817, to Sarah Mace - b. 11 Jan 1796, d. 19 Sept 1871. (Note on death of Sarah) [Sarah rode horseback from near Mingo where she lived with her son, John M., and his wife, Eliza, to Becky's Creek to attend a revival meeting at the school house. She spent the night with James Rosencrance family, her daughter and son-in-law. She slept with Virginia Alice Rosencrance, her granddaughter. Sarah died during the night in her sleep.] this was written to Lois (Pingley) Collier by Virginia Alice Rosencrance, her grandmother. Sarah is suppossedly buried by her husband. Elizabeth Stalnaker, b. 1820, d. 1901, dau. of Ferdinand and Sarah (Yeager) Stalnaker. 2. Mary Jane Wamsley, b. 3 Jul 1819, d. 24 May 1869, m. 1841, to James Rosencrance, b. 1816, d. 11 Jul 1891, son of Hezekiah & Nancy (Simpson) Rosencrance. Both are buried at Beck's Creek, near Huttonsville, West Virginia. 3. Elizabeth Wamsley, b. 3 Dec 1820, d. 29 Dec 1894, m. 19 Mar 1840, John Crouch Wamsley, son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Crouch) Wamsley. 4. Hannah Wamsley, b. 5 Dec 1822, d. 25 Dec 1858, m. 9 Feb 1858, John William Daft, son of Jacob and Margaret Daft. Hannah probably died from complications of childbirth. Both are buried at Brick church Cemetary, Huttonsville, WV. 5. Emily Wamsley, b. 5 May 1824, d. 1857, m. 11 Dec 1851, to Samuel Porter Wilson, son of William H. and Jane (McCampbell) Wilson. Samuel m. 2nd Lavinia Bradshaw. (Emily and Samuel were the parents of 3 children.) 6. Dorcas Wamsley, b. 7 Mar 1826, d. Nov 1859, m. 18 Nov 1847, John Yeager Stalnaker. Both are buried at Goodrick Cem., Linn county, Kansas. 5 children known. 7. John M. Wamsley, b. 28 Jun 1831, d. , m. ? Eliza? (1 known child Fidelia E. who was 6 mos. old in 1860 census) 8. William Muriel Wamsley, b. 8 Nov 1831, d. 2 Apr 1881, m. 28 Mar 1859, Hannah Ward, b. 18 Mar 1843, d. 18 June 1905, dau. of Levi and Martha (Wood) Ward. Both are buried at Jesse Wamsley Cem., Becky's Creek, Randolph county, WV. (8 known children. 3 of which died as infants.) My 2 lineages of Wamsleys are as follows: 1. Jacob Yokum, Jr., b. 20 Jan 1832, d. 17 Dec 1918, m. 17 mar 1856, Catherine Daniels. 5. Lorenzo Burns Yokum, b. 22 Feb 1879, d. 22 mar 1931, m. 1906, Alta Maude Shaffer as his 2nd wife. He married 1st. Cora McCollom. 6. Frank Kenneth Yokum, b. 17 Dec 1909, d. 23 Nov 1971, m. 22 Dec 1930, Virginia A. Rosencrance. Children of Frank and Virginia (Rosencrance) Yokum: a. Olan Kenneth Yokum, b. 26 Jul 1932, m. 21 Jun 1958, Colleen Dill of Cass, WV. 2 children. b. Phyllis e. Yokum, as above. Everyone keeps asking on the Web where the Bible of William Wamsley is. When the names and dates in this Bible were printed in the Clarksburg Sunday Exonet, it was in possession of a Charles Sheets. Ruth, dau. of William and Susannah (Watson) Wamsley, married 1st. Danile B. Marshall. They had a dau. named Mary Margaret Susannah R. Marshall, b. 26 May 1825, that married 16 Nov 1845, Lemuel E. Sheets, son of Jacob Sheets. I would guess that Charles Sheets was a descendant of Mary M. and Lemuel. You can use this information any way you would like." As far as I know, Phyllis Daniels does not have an e-mail address.
