John and Mary have two daughters I can identify: Elizabeth, who married Solomon Channell in Ohio, and Catherine, who married Thomas R. Ruckle, probably in Ohio as well. Did John and Mary have additional children? Is anyone on the list familiar with those children and what may have happened to them? The Wamsley family is an important part of my ongoing research, I appreciate any further information, comments, suggestions. Kind Regards, Micheal Mathews

William Heater Wamsley (1843-1901) who was in the 31st VA company F of the confederate army was married To Elizabeth Margaret Swadley (1846-1920). The Descendents of William Wamsley and Prudence Wilmoth are Andrew W Wamsley; Lucinda (Ware), Mary Jane (Shreve), and your gggrand mother Sarah/Sallie(Riggleman) and my ggrandfather William Heater Wamsley. The family lived in Randolph county and surrounding areas. Elkins was not the county seat or even a town until late 1890's.

Surnames: Wamsley, Stout, Cullins Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BVVBAIB/192.1 Message Board Post: Hi, I have just found wonderful information on Leah Stout's family. I descend from Isaac Harvey Wamsley as well. What I have is Issac and Leah's children were; William Wamsley , Isaac, Jonathan, Christopher, Isaac and Leah Stout Taylor married in NY on July 2, 1770 Leah was married before to Samuel Taylor whom died young. Leah is mentioned in her uncle's will , whom was Zephania White. It is listed at the time of Leah's marriage to Samuel Taylor she lived in Nutswamp, NJ, Samuel was the son of Edward Taylor. Samuel and Leah married on Oct. 12, 1761 in NJ, I believe. Leah is the daughter of Freegift Stout and Mary Higgens. Freegift was the son of David Stout and Rebecca Ashton. David was the son of Penelope Kent (Van Princin) and Richard Stout. I can go farther, but for fun go look up this Penelope. She has quite an interesting past and we descend from her. I have read in the Adams co. Ohio History book , I believe that Isaac and his brother were both German Sea captains whom wrecked thier ships. They made thier way down the river, I believe. I have also looked for further information on Isaac, but have not found where in Germany he comes from. I descend from Hosea Moore Wamsely whom married Angeline Cullins , according to her deat! h cert. from Adams co. Ohio.

I have a wealth of ancesteral information. If you would like to converse with me, I can be contacted at wamsley@wt.net. Incidentally, the previous reply appears to provide incorrect information. Charles H. Wamsley was born in Andes, Delaware County, New York. I don't have my files with me, but his birth would have been between 1820 and 1836. The family migrated to Buffalo, Ogle, IL in 1836 and I know he is listed there in the 1850 census...
