Wamsley, a former resident of the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, died April 16 of heart failure at his home here. He was 70. Wamsley was born Nov. 8, 1911, at Asotin, the son of Arch and Veda Wamsley. He attended Asotin grade school and graduated from Lapwai High School. He received his bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Idaho. Wamsley lived at Cottage Grove, Ore, for several years before moving to Yoncalla. He was a former mayor of Yoncalla. He married Lorraine Sanford at Dayton, WA. **She preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, James of Cottage Grove; a daughter Merrily Ann of Portland; three sisters, Zena Carpenter of Lewiston, Leta Beckmann of Seattle, and Grade Bruder of Sandpoint; and three grandchildren. Services were held April 17 at Blue Mountain Gardens between Walla Walla, Wash, and Milton-Freewater, Ore. **NOTE: This fact is in error. Lorraine was NOT deceased. She moved to Cottage Grove, Ore. Shortly after her husband's death. Eugene Register Guard Eugene, Oregon December 20, 2005 Cottage Grove, Ore. - An open house celebration of life will be held Dec. 22 for Lorraine Wamsley of Cottage Grove, formerly of Yoncalla, who died Dec. 17 of age-related causes. She was 97. Wamsley was born Nov. 18, 1908, in Covella, Wash., to Wilson and Melinda McGee Sanford. She married Russel C. Wamsley in 1936 in Dayton, Wash. He died April 16, 1982. She grew up and was educated near Lewiston, Idaho. She moved to Oregon in 1941, living in Pacific City until 1945, then in Neskowin. She moved in 1949 to Yoncalla, where she and her husband owned and operated Wamsley's Red and White Store. Following her husband's death, she moved to Cottage Grove. Wamsley enjoyed handcrafts, including crocheting, and gardening, country music, refinishing antique furniture and caring for her family and home. She was a longtime member of the Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include a son, James of Cottage Grove; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A daughter, Merrily Ann Osborn, died Ju! ly 5, 2004. Thursday's celebration will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the home of Jim and Kathy Wamsley, Cottage Grove. Burial will be at Blue Mountain Memorial Park in Walla Walla, Wash. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Yoncalla Lions Club.

And that from about 1846 until 1871, was a resident of Wabash County, Indiana. That he is a son of Isaac Wamsley, and the grand-son of Mary Rariden (Rarden) who owned the northwest fractional quarter of section No 8 in township No. 27 North, range No. 7 east, being 69 acres more or less, and who received from the state of Indiana a Canal Grant Patent therefor; That my grand-mother, the said Mary Rariden, died in the latter part of 1846, or early in the year 1847, a widow. That I was personally acquainted with the family, and that to my knowledge, the only heirs left by the said Mary Rariden at her demise, were: -my mother and father, Elizabeth and Isaac Wamsley.
