    3. Well, Milton, I don't know how much help this is - the db shared with me is not complete. I have your Rebecca, a daughter of Christopher and Elizabeth Wamsley. Angeline is less certain. Unless there is an error, Harvey Stout Wamsley md. Angeline Fouts in 1860 and they had 12 children born from 1861 - 1883. You say your Angeline died in 1874, so this doesn't fit. Also Harvey S. died in 1886, so unless there were a divorce and both remarried, this doesn't seem to fit. They had a daughter, Angeline, born 1868 but she doesn't fit your time frame either. Some of these Wamsleys went out to Indiana, some in Franklin Co. and forget what other counties but in the same area. Christopher was one of those who moved out if memory serves, but you may know this already. I find only the early Jonathan's in the part of the db I have here and no Newton's. Hmmm. Good luck with this! Sorry I can't be of more help. 2. Ok thanks, the reason I asked is that I have some pension files on Wamsley's that I requested that weren't mine, I can check those couple of files and see if anyone you mentioned could be in those files. Thanks for letting me know. 3. Oh, THOSE Wamsleys! Was reading along here and just knew they didn't fit ours. Hi Milton, I had people in Brown Co. OH right next door to Adams, but not Wamsleys. Some years ago though, in trying to track down my husband's line, I tripped over Wamsleyville in Adams and talked to a man about that family. He shared his database with me. Will check when I have a minute and get back to you. Daughter, Ella Jane Holliday married my G-Gfather Addison Neblik Young. What I am having trouble with is for his 2nd wife J.T. Holliday married Angeline Wamsley(1831-1874). At first I thought she was a niece by marriage. J.T and Angeline had 2 sons, Charles Burkitt/Burkett Holliday and Winfred Holliday. Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wamsley/221.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have not been able to confirm this anywhere yet, but when I was reading through an archived message posting about Albert Sidney J. Wamsley (b: 07 June 1867 in Randolph County), in his line, it listed Generation 3 as Samuel B. Wamsley who married Elizabeth Crouch on January 2, 1806 in Randolph. Anyway, it states there that she was the daughter of Major John M. Crouch, Sr. and Mary Jane Neilson. This message also cited sources as "History of Randolph County, West Virginia" by Maxwell and Randolph County, Virginia marriage records for the parents of Elizabeth Crouch. I've written on the Randolph board trying to find someone to do a lookup, but no response yet. I've also written the one of the libraries to try to get a lookup on these sources. I did find a partial "History of Randolph..." online and found their marriage listed (Samuel B and Elizabeth) but her parents were blank, not sure if it just wasn't transcribed from the original or if the source is incorrect. I also tried to contact the original writer of the archived message, but e-mail was no longer valid and I got it back. If the John M. Crouch, Sr. that I can find (sorry kinda new to this and don't know everyone well yet), he had a daughter Elizabeth that I cannot verify a date of birth for yet, but all the other children of his seem to have dates, but oddly enough the time frame for Elizabeth being born in 5/13/1789 would fit into an empty area between his other children's births. Being so new at this - I'm probably completely wrong in thinking this might be a valid lead, but only one way to learn and find out I guess. Write me offline if you want - let me know what your thoughts are on this. I've contacted Mike as well, but he's on a trip this coming week, so I've been unable to run this past him. He also suggested that I contact you as well, hence my writing. Oh, and the person who wrote the archived message also quotes a source for some of the other information contained in it as a Wamsley Family Bible entitled A.M. and M. Wamsley, copywrited in 1869. This bible is at the farmhouse (built in the early 1800s) of the Wamsley farm currently owned by Thomas Andrew "Andy" Wamsley, Jr. of Valley Bend, West Viriginia. So, it sort of sounds fairly like this person did quite a bit of research. Judy

Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wamsley/221.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: To be honest with you, not really. What I do know is that Andrew Crouch, supposedly Elizabeth's father, died after Nov. 1780, which was when the last written record for him is found, it is known that in the special census for Monongalia County, VA/WV, in 1782, his widow Judith is listed as head of the household, with 4 children, To my knowledge the only 4 children that Andrew and Judith had were Major John Crouch, born 1773, Jacob Crouch, born 1776, Elizabeth, who I thought was born 1779, and Andrew Crouch, born 1780. The old headstone for Elizabeth Crouch Wamsley, located at the Old Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville, WV, does not give her year of birth, but lists her age, using that information her year of birth would be 1789, in which case Andrew Crouch could not have been her father. I was sent some information that Mike Wamsley had written by Martin Yokum that states in a letter written by his great grandmother, Mary Jane See Crouch, [wife of John Marshall Crouch, youngest son of Major John Crouch and Mary Fornelson] that says that Elizabeth was the daughter of Judith Crouch, and a traveling salesman by the name of Clarke, and it lists her birth as May 13, 1789, so there is the unanswered question as to who the fourth child was in the 1782 census, and is Elizabeth Andrew's daughter or as it says above the daughter of the salesman named Clarke?
