Author: fortunatic Surnames: Classification: marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wamsley/192.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have found different sources stating different lines (names) in geni.com regarding Leah Stout. Here's what I have found: -Richard Stout marries the (infamous) Penelope Van Princin (Kent)in 1622. Marriage produces 10 children. Richard, Jr. -Richard Stout,Jr. marries Mary Tilton -This marriage produces Dr. Jonathan Stout, b.1705 -Dr. Jonathan Stout marries Leah Mary White (date?) -Leah Stout born 1742 -Leah Stout marries Isaac H. Wamsley, Sr. in 1770...Tried to connect Leah to Freegift Stout, but could not find any records stating this. Several families on Geni.com have the tree this way. It does make more sense since Jonathan's wife is named Leah as well. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have lots of info on Isaac, Sr., but sadly nothing from Germany yet. I would love more info on Leah though! However, I can tell you where Isaac, Sr. went, all the different states he lived in, and the son whom I descend from. There's even a Civil War veteran in the mix! Hope to hear from you soon, although your post is many years old, I fear I won't. C. Wamsley (nee) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Hi, whoever you are. :-) I'm not related to this family either but Virginia Kane in New York is, either Fred or his wife were g-uncle or aunt to her. Haven't heard from her in years. For a long time we thought Fred must be related to my husband's family at Lyons, just ten miles between, but no such luck. Fred came over from Lincolnshire, ENG about 1842 - no idea why I remember that so well. Thanks for posting! Will hang on to it just in case. Husband has Bashor/Bashores related too but don't know if this is one of them. I've been a little neglectful of my gen research since we moved a few years ago (we have no family lines here in Michigan & I miss my research haunts in Ohio) but I've gotten re-energized. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: gwenb61444 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wamsley/251.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Sarah married to William R Howell is in the 1850 census in Brookville, Franklin Co, IN (children Mary and Rachael) and was age 27 born IN. (Wm 25 b.KY). In 1870, she's in Fugit, Decatur, IN also showing her born in IN. Isaac III is in 1850 census in Noble, Wabash Co, IN Franklin Co is in the SE corner of the state, Wabash is in the north central part of the state. There was an Isaac in Franklin Co in 1820 and 1840 but not in the index for 1830. Any reason to think they went from Adams Co OH to Franklin Co IN then back again? My own Wamsley is in Boone Co KY and Hamilton Co OH but for awhile years ago I thought there was a connection to the Adams county bunch. There's not, they are a different family. My Wm G Wamsley http://www.bassett.net/gendata-o/p36.htm supposedly died in Ripley Co IN in 1837 though I've not found anything to support that other than the bio of a descendant. My point is that there is more than one Wamsley family in the SW corner of IN/SE corner of OH. If Wm Howell's Sarah is indeed a Wamsley, she's obviously not the one buried in Adams Co OH. If I were you, I'd delve into finding a will/probate for Isaac III to see if there is mention of the Howell surname. PS. gwenb61444 is my employer, my name is Kathryn Bassett Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: MLeenstra Surnames: Wamsley Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wamsley/251/mb.ashx Message Board Post: http://ohiogravestones.org/view.php?id=9237 Can anyone identify this Sarah Wamsley buried in the Wamsley/Wamsleyville M.E. Church (Jefferson Twp.) Cemetery in Adams County? The inscription on the tombstone says she was the daughter of Isaac Wamsley and died Feb. 20, 1836 at the age of 12yr 11mo 7 da which would mean she was born on 13 Mar 1823. I have a Sarah Wamsley in my file born on that date to Isaac Wamsley III/Elizabeth Carson (Isaac Harvey Wamsley Jr, Isaac Harvey Wamsley) but I have her married to Wm Riley Howell in Indiana in 1846 (src: Howard Jarrell). I also have Isaac III moving to Indiana abt 1813 with his parents, Isaac Harvey Wamsley Jr & Elizabeth Rachel GINN. Are my records wrong? I wish these online cemetery websites also showed the location of the burial plot to see if she was buried near her parents.
