    1. Syrena Margaret Talbott Wamsley
    2. I recently sent information to this list that was wrong. I had thought that the mother of my great-grandmother, Syrena Margaret Talbott, was Millie Stephens, the first wife of Elisha T. Talbott. The truth is that her mother was Elizabeth Minear, the second wife of Elisha T. Talbott. Thank you, cousin Nelda Riley, for correcting that for me! Margaret Talbott was the wife of George Fisher Wamsley. Wanda

    1. Re: question about Jesse Channell
    2. In a message dated 01-03-13 14:28:49 EST, Humindixie@aol.com writes: > > JESSE CHANNELL, son of John C. and Elizabeth Wamsley Channell, was born Bet. > > 1826 - 1827 in Randolph County, Virginia (Source: Death Book 1, page 7, > Randolph County, West Virginia.), and died 25 December 1857 in Randolph > County, Virginia (Source: CHANNELL HERITAGE I, by Rose Channell Philips, > published October 1983.). Loudin stated that family tradition is that > Jesse died during the Civil War but the information that I have above is > different. Does anyone have the book Channell Heritage I to confirm that > death date for Jesse? Wanda -- In my file, I have a message posted by Patricia Dilley that gives the following list: Children of JESSE CHANNEL and ELEANOR WARE are: i. ALLEN BRADY6 CHANNEL, b. Abt. 1849. ii. MARY CHANNEL, b. Abt. 1850. iii. MARGARET ELIZABETH CHANNEL. iv. HIRAM W. CHANNEL. v. JESSE M. CHANNEL, d. December 25, 1856, Randolph Co VA. vi. JESSE W. CHANNEL, b. December 25, 1855, Randolph Co VA. vii. ANDREW E, CHANNEL. viii. JACOB C. CHANNEL. ix. RACHEL ANN CHANNEL This is confusing, since Jesse M. and Jesse W. are listed as dying on 25 Dec in consecutive years. Maybe they are the same person, with a discrepancy in the death date? And then you have Jesse, Sr. dying on 25 Dec one year later. I wonder if the death record you have is for one of Jesse's young sons? If someone has the book, maybe this will be clear -- or maybe the book has the Jesses confused. Mary Ann

    1. Syrena Margaret Talbott Wamsley
    2. My great-grandmother, Syrena Margaret Talbott Wamsley, daughter of Elisha and Millie Stephens Talbott and wife of George Fisher Wamsley was born in probably Barbour County, Virginia (later WVA). I have her birth year as 1846. In the Barbour County, West Virginia Cemetery burial register for Mt. Olive Cemetery, the Millie Talbott who I believe could have been Margaret's mother has her death date listed as 18 April 1843, age 41. Can anyone confirm that Margaret was born in 1846 and/or Millie who died in 1843 was her mother? Thanks, Wanda Wamsley Balducci, Chester, Virginia

    1. Amanda WAMSLEY ZINN (b. 1834 - WV)
    2. I found a Rootsweb WorldConnect database ("MORRIS family", posted by Lawrence G. Brown <lgbown@lynks.com>) that includes an Amanda WAMSLEY (b. 1834) who married George Peter ZINN (1840 - 1926). George Peter's father, Henderson B. ZINN, was b. in Monongalia, and it looks like George Peter and Amanda must have lived in that area, because their first child was b. in Reedsville, Preston Co. Does anyone know who Amanda WAMSLEY's parents were? I have an Amanda, daughter of Joseph WAMSLEY and Sarah CONRAD, for whom I have no spouse. Is this the right Amanda? I know that Joseph did live in Preston Co. in the later part of his life. Also, one of the ZINN children is named Joseph H. Here is the data on the family as I found it on Rootsweb: Father: George Peter ZINN b. 21 Jan 1840 d. Dec 1926 Mother: Amanda WAMSLEY b. 27 May 1834 Married: 21 Oct 1860 Children: Martha E. ZINN b. 6 Dec 1861, Reedsville, Preston, WV Samuel M. ZINN b. 16 Mar 1864 Lenora ZINN b. 10 Feb 1866 Joseph H. ZINN b. 28 Mar 1868 Minerva A. ZINN b. 18 May 1870 Walter Gay ZINN b. 17 Apr 1875. 1. George Fisher Wamsley
    2. George Fisher Wamsley, buried in the Old Brick Church Cemetery in Valley Bend, West Virginia, has a Southern Cross of Honor on his tombstone. This Cross of Honor was made by the Daughters of the Confederacy, and I have been told that Daughters made their first one in 1900. George died in 1881, so this may mean that his tombstone was not placed until 1900 or later. Does anyone know? Wanda Wamsley Balducci in Virginia
