My gg grandfather was Horace Warmsley. He married Caroline Harris in 1846 and they had 11 children; Ella, Franklin, Mary, Horace,Thomas, Andrew, Arthur, Dayton, Alice, Dawson and Ida (my g. grandmother). Horace (born in 1853)married Mary Jane Dixon (or Dickinson); their children were James, Herbert E., Arthur and Etta. I believe their son Arthur, Bn. 12/29/1879 is the father of Arthur J. Warmsley who was a photographer for the Hartford Courant. My father & family use to talk about their cousin the photographer. If this is true, Arthur J. and my father Wilbur Dozier are cousins; since they share the same g grandparents (Horace & Caroline). I understand Arthur's daughter Denise Warmsley resides in Portland, Ct. I would really like to contact her. In addition, I understand there is an Anna Warmsley Temple; part of the Elks Club on Elm Street in New Britain, Ct. I am told that this Anna (formerly Stedman) might have been the wife of Herbert E. Dear List: I'm searching for info. regarding the Georgia and the Texas branch of the Wamsleys. I have a great-great grandfather, Joseph/Henry Wamsley, who came over to America from Lancashire, England, somewhere around 1860 with his wife, Eliza Summersgill Wamsley, and their four daughters: Selina, Emma, Alice, and Rosalta. They settled in the Columbus, GA/Phenix City, AL area for awhile and had three sons: Thomas Edwin, Henry, and Manuel. Then, at some point in time, the family moved into Texas and settled first around Bastrop, and then later in Austin, Travis County, TX. Joseph/Henry Wamsley died sometime before 1900, we think, either in GA or TX (not sure where). Eliza and the rest of her children continued to live in the Austin, Texas area until the children began marrying. Eliza is buried in the old Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, Texas, along with her son, Henry. Anyone know anything about this family? When they first came to America? When they moved into Texas? When the father Joseph/Henry Wamsley died? etc. etc. Will share info. on descending Wamsley generations with anyone willing to share what they have... The following is a descendant line of the northern Wamsleys that I have added to and revised as information as come along from various sources. As you can see, it's a little messed up with some names repeating, like Mary Paxson. Can anyone (Nancy?) clean this up some and tell me where my mistakes are?
