Surnames: TAYLOR, WAMSLEY, BROWN, RIFFLE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BVVBAIB/203.1.1 Message Board Post: Donna, The B.F. you saw in the 1920 census is my great-grandfather. I also saw the reference to his father being from England, but I don't think that is correct. I suspect that his wife Nancy GOULD was the respondent, and she wasn't sure. B.F. (Frank) and Nancy were the parents of my grandfather, Charles F. Wamsley (!) who m. Bessie Brown in 1915. My Charles F. was born 1895. However, B.F. had a lot of siblings, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if one of his brothers also had a son or grandson also named Charles F. If the marriage between Abner Wamsley and Nancy Cottrell is my Abner, I suspect that it is a second or third marriage. I am sending for a copy of the marriage license, but haven't received it yet. Here are the children of Abner (b. in VA according to earlier censuses) and Nancy as I have found them in the 1850, 1860, etc. Mason Co. VA /WVcensus images. He may have been married to another Nancy at that time. The children were all born prior to the Abner Wamsley/Nancy Cottrell marriage in VA: Miranda (maybe, hard to read) b.abt. 1834 - she could be named after the Nancy Miranda you saw, hmmm. William J. b. abt. 1838 Abner D. b. October 1843 Rebecca A. b. 2 Sept 1846 Nancy M. b. 23 Feb 1849 Agnes b. abt. 1850 Benjamin Franklin b. 19 June 1858 Rebecca and Nancy M. married brothers named Morriston in Mason Co. Do any of these ring a bell with you? Jan

He was born abt. 1800-1806 (calc. from census). His wife was Nancy, and his children were Miranda (?, hard to read) b. abt. 1834, William J. (b.abt. 1838), Abner D. (b. 1843), Rebecca A. (b. 1846), Nancy M. (b. 1849), Agnes (b.abt. 1850), and Benjamin Franklin, my g grandfather, (b. 1858). I believe Abner died between 1860 and 1870 in Mason Co, because Nancy and B.F. are living with her daughter Nancy M. and her husband, Hezekiah Morriston (Morrison), in 1870. In the 1900 census, Abner D. reports his father and mother having been born in PA. B.F.(Frank) reports his father and mother having been born in VA. Do any of you have this Abner in your lines? I'd like to know where he was born. Thanks.
