    1. [WALLIS] SAVILLE - WALLIS Family photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" two old photographs of John A. SAVILLE, the first taken when he was 8 1/2 years old at the Heyn Studio in Omaha Nebraska. This was most likely taken sometime in the 1880's. The second photograph was taken at the Radnar Coover Studio in Chicago, IL on 1 July 1900, with John appearing to be in his 20's. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding John and his family: John Appleton SAVILLE was b. 2 Nov 1876 in Kearney or Center, NE to parents Clara MCBRIDE (b. Jun 1842 in Ohio or New York) and John Jack SAVILLE (b. 1831 in Wayne Co. IN). John had one brother, Alfred W. SAVILLE b. 29 Apr 1873 in Iowa. John married Isabel or Isabelle or Esibella Frances WALLIS or WALLAS (b. 25 Dec 1874 in Illinois) sometime about 1902 and together they had three children including, Marian McLeod; William Wallis; and Robert W. SAVILLE, all born between 1906 and 1916 in Chicago, IL. John died 18 Jul 1968 in Orange Co. CA and is buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA. Census records provide the following details: 1880 census of Center, NE: John J. SAVILLE, age 49, a Farmer, born IN, parents born DE/NJ Clara SAVILLE, wife, age 36, Keeping House, born OH, parents born Scotland/OH Alfred W. SAVILLE, son, age 7, at School, born IA John A. SAVILLE, son, age 3, born NE + 1 Boarder +1 Laborer + 1 Gardner 1900 census of Chicago, IL: - boarding at Loomis Hotel John A. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Author: ralphmurphy510 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wallis/1196/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There seems to be little hard information for Martha, the wife of James Wallis (1670-1744) son of John the immigrant. There is one source that states that James married a Martha [Stanford]. There is no other "hard" source for who Martha is. Many have this Martha to be the daughter of Robert Stanford and Mary Howland. There is no hard evidence of this and the dates are problematical. Mary had a first husband Timothy Williamson who died in Aug 1676. Therefore the earliest which Martha could have been born to James and Mary would be 1677. This would have made Martha 17 at her marriage to James in 1694. This certainly is possible but it seems risky to base a pedigree on this without some proof that this happened. Does anyone have any evidence for this? Thanks. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am descended from Jesse Wallace and Sarah Edwards through their son Thomas A. Wallace. He married Sarah Jane Estes and they had two children. He died very young sometime around 1900. Would love to correspond. Can't find anyone who knows anything about Thomas. I do have a copy of the marriage certificate and have dates for the children. Sarah remarried a Warren Wallis and they had other children. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
