    3. To All Wallace Researchers: I got a message regarding Caleb Wallace in response to my post on the Peter Wallace family and the book " The Wallace Family in America" and I would like to post to the list my response. Jim, Gee! I'm almost as excited as you are and this isn't even my Wallace family!! Let me pick up where I left off in my message to the Wallace List and you be the judge. From the book as follows: " All that is known of this entire family comes through Caleb Wallace, whose biographer relates the career of a remarkable citizen, and United States Judge, who throughout a busy and strenuous life was ever a leader amoung the men of his time; active in shaping the legislation of Virginia, before the Revolution, and of Kentucky, after her admission as a State, in 1792. He was a graduate of Princeton, as was also President Madison, with whom he maintained relations of friendship. He studied for and entered the Presbyterian ministry, in which he held a distinguished place until the troublous times preceding the breaking out of war, when he became noted as a staunch advocate of emancipation from the tyranny of King and Parliament; and the separation of Church and State; including entire freedom of conscience." " He married first, his cousin, Sarah McDowell, born October 10, 1755, who died early in 1776, leaving no issue; and second, in 1779, Rosanna, daughter of Captain Israel Christian, born in 1754, by whom he had nine children, born as follows: Samuel McDowell, April 16, 1780 William C., October 16, 1781, who died young Priscilla C., March 12, 1785 Caleb Baker, May 22, 1787 John, October 13, 1789 Henry, March 24, 1792 William Christian, April 15, 1794 Charles, September 9, 1796 Christian, November 21 1800 Mrs Rosanna (Christian) Wallace, died December 4, 1804; and he married third, Mrs Mary Brown. Judge Caleb Wallace died in 1814, at his home in Woodford county, Kentucky" The above Wallace family may also be descendants of Sir William Wallace (not of Brave Heart fame) born abt 1654, and Elizabeth Bruce, born abt 1658. A lady by the name of Beth Smarr, who is a writer and teacher, may be able to tell you more about that family. Her email address a year ago was aplitsmart@aol.com . I don't know if that is still a good address. I bought my copy of " The Wallace Family in America" from the Clan Wallace Society. The book is only 27 pages and was about $10.50. If you like, I can copy the portion of the book that you are interested in and mail it to you. Let me know. The Clan Wallace Society's address is: Tom Wallace, Clan Wallace Society P.O. Box 273 Jonesborough, TN. 37659 I hope the above information gives you the connection you were lookin for. I am also going to forward a copy of this to the Wallace List.
