Cousins, or should I say "Children" ! I've been out of town for the week end and when I return, it seems like this list has degenerated into a bunch of spoiled squabbling brats! There are Rules & Regulations for this list, albiet "very few" as I believe in a free exchange of information and dialogue between researchers. However, "FLAMES" of ANY KIND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. I am sure that we all have seen the chaos that other lists have fallen into when unkind words are said. The Rules of this list are being re-written as we speak and will be sent to all subscribers in the next few days. But to summarize: 1. FLAMES of any kind will not be tolerated. An offender will be given one (1) warning. If their actions persist, they will be removed from the list. 2. Occasional "humor and levity" are not wrong, but seriously, the "Welsh town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" has gone ABSOLUTELY TOO FAR! Cease and desist! 3. Yes, there is currently a question that has caused concern amongst a number of subscribers to RootsWeb and many of the Listowners/Moderators of the Surname list on RootsWeb by another surname research BBS on GENFORUM. This list is not the place to discuss it, or COPYRIGHT LAWS. There are other lists to subscribe to if you are interested in the message string. If you interested in that or so inclined to follow along, you can subscribe by sending a message to: listowners-request@rootsweb.com with the message: subscribe Does it concern me? Yes, as I do not want to dilute our research. I do not want to have the appearance of "Dueling" research groups as it will only make us look bad and ultimately spoil what good we have accomplished. Let's all get back to doing what we do best! And that's working together to find our ancestors. I apologize for having been out of town this past weekend, and when I do in the future, I will make certain that my Co-Moderators keep a watchful eye on activities and put a lid on any in appropriate message strings. Don't worry about strange town names, other surnames list services, etc. If we show that we are serious and dedicated to our work and service to others, it's like my Grampa Wallace used to tell me, "This too will pass!"
