They are staffed with friendly capable people who are willing to help anyone of any faith and there is no charge. The Mormon church has the largest repository of vital statistics in the world. A large amount of it is available on line. What is not on line is on microfilm and the films can be ordered in to be read at their centers. The Family History centers have computers and film readers all of which are available for the general public to use at no charge.
