Hello All Does anyone know anything about one Edward McLaughlin, born in Ireland about 1819. In particular, is there any relationship between the Wallace family and the McLaughlin family back in Limerick. I find his name along with Patrick Wallace (B 1828) in Dubuque, Iowa where they both filed a "Notice of Intent" for citizenship in 1849 as they joined the gold rush to California. Then I find them in the 1860 census in California where several men, including those two, shared an abode together. Then I find Patrick Wallace and Edward McLaughlin homesteading adjoining parcels of land. Then when Patrick was married and had his first son baptized, Edward was the godfather. Were they maybe cousins? Bill Wallace
