Tulsa World Dec. 14,2004 WALLACE-- Helen Norris, born November 5, 1915 near Curtis, AR, died December 4, 2004 in Tulsa. Helen was the seventh of 10 children. Parents were David Byrd and Frances Anne Norris. After graduating from Louisiana High School, she attended Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. Later she became a Secretary for the Arkansas Fuel Oil Company. During WWII she volunteered for the American Red Cross and the U.S.O. In May 1942, she met L.E. (Ed) Wallace, who was stationed at Barksdale Field. In June, 1943 Helen and her sister, Alice traveled to Dayton, OH, where Helen and Lt. Wallace, who was stationed at Patterson Field, were married June 19 in the Grace Methodist Church by Dr. Hazen G. Warner. Helen became an avid golfer, who played at Oaks Country Club and also worked several years as a volunteer for the Tulsa Opera. She was predeceased by her parents and 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by: her husband; sister, Alice of Albany, GA; a niece, Mrs. Lyon Morehead of Tulsa; and several other nieces and nephews.
