Well, I'm back Jeff. I've just finished going through all the un-organized papers I have plus what I ascertained sometime back to be solid fact. I must say I'm still confused but maybe not as confused as before. >From the ancester file of the Mormon church I believe it's safe to say that there were two Matthew Wallaces in Dames Quarter area of MD at the same time. One of them moved to Cecil Co., MD. And to confuse matters they used the names Matthew, Richard, James, and John from generation to generation. I have not even tried to find the descendants of "my" Matthew Wallace because I'm still trying to get his ancestors in line. I don't know if this will be any help to you or not. Anyhow, right at the moment this is how things are shaping up for me -- Matthew Wallace b. between 1640/1648 in Raphoe, Donegal, Ireland; d.about 1714 in Manokin, Somerset Co., MD; m. Elizabeth Alexander. (In some records I find that he was married to Sarah Alexander. Was this the second Matthew that went to Cecil Co who was married to a Sarah Alexander? The brothers had married sisters? Or was the Elizabeth Alexander named Sarah Elizabeth or vice- versa?) Source for this Matthew being born in Ireland John Wallis, Sr. 's Will dated July 1685 states, "John Wallis, Sr. will states he is "of Ireland and Manokin River, Somerset Co., and names his nephews John Wallis, Jr., William Stephenson, Matthew Wallace, and James Wallace". The children of Matthew and Elizabeth Wallace, and this list may not be complete or correct, are Joseph, David, Richard, James, Leah, Elizabeth b. about 1735, William, and Thomas. There may have been a second marriage. My interest in this particular family is Elizabeth and from her father's will her birthdate seems to be around 1735, maybe earlier. I do have a copy of "my" Matthew's will taken from Ruth T. Dryden's Will Book of Somerset Co., MD. In his will dated 1761 he leaves to son Joseph dwelling Plantation at Rock Creek He also disinherited William who contested the will. I could maybe make some guesses with the other information I have, but I really don't like to do that. Jeanne Scott I think maybe "my" Matthew may have teen the son of Richard Wallace b. about 1673;d. 1745; m. Grace White. And Richard the son of the Matthew who came over from Ireland. I have lots of information on the Wallace family but nothing that I can tie with certainty with the ones I've mentioned. As I said, I hope this is some help to you.
