In response to Jeanne Scott and Jean Gayle messages noted at end: Do you have any further information on the descendents of Richard Wallace (d.1744/45) and Grace White? of Dames Quarter, Somerset Co. MD. Especially of their grandson William Wallace who contested the will of his father (Matthew). I think this is the same Richard Wallace family that John Polk, of the list, is researching. Richard Wallace patented land in Dames Quarter area, Somerset Co.--- "Friend's Acceptance or Friends Content", MD in 1701 resurveyed by Richard Wallace and son--n-law John White. I also have noted from information on the "Nelms Accounts Store" ledgers in Somerset Co., that a Richard Sammons Wallace of Dame Quarter purchased stamped cotton, rum, and sleve buttons. Also Sarah Wallace of Dame Quarter bought something from "Ledger H". The ledger covered purchases between 1775 and 1787. In addition I have information from researcher, Will Brown, that a Richard Wallace married a Mary Brown. She was born April 1731 and died after 15 Feb 1763 Also researcher, Bev DuVal in Arizona noted: "I'm seeking information on my husband's gr-gr-grandfather, Richard (David) WALLACE, b. variously 1811 or 1816 in MD, d. 7 Feb 1877, Somerset Co., MD., m.17 Oct 1837 in Allen, MD (now Wicomico Co.) to Matilda CAREW (widow of Tuman McDORMAN or DORMAN). Believe his parents were Richard WALLACE and Elizabeth BROWN, possibly married in Fredericksburg, VA. " I'd like to learn more about the Richard Wallace lines of Dames Quarters. There are a few of us out there with the same interests. Any help would be appreciated. He also mentioned grandson, John, son of Oliver Wallace. Jean Gayle >> >>> prior posting of Jeanne Scott: Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2000 15:34:26 EDT From: [email protected] I have Matthew Wallace b. about 1648 in Ireland; d. between 1714/15 in Manokin River, Somerset Co. MD; m. Elizabeth Alexander b. 1650; d. 1692. Richard Wallace b. about 1673 in Dames Quarter area of Somerset Co., MD; d. 1745 in the same area as far as I know; m. Grace White b. 1678; d. post 1757. Matthew Wallace b. about 1700 in Dames Quarter area, Somerset Co., MD; d. 1761 m. Mary (?) Their children were: William Elizabeth b. about 1735 maybe a year or two later Leah b. about 1753 Joseph Thomas I have no idea of the order in which these children should be. But believe William and Elizabeth are the earliest and close to the same age. There may have been other children but these are the ones mentioned in court proceedings when William contested the will so I tend to think this is a complete list. I didn't mention the children of the 1st Matthew as I have several lists from different people and they all are long and differ in some ways. If anyone would like the list that I consider the most accurate, please e-mail me. I have nothing on Richard and Grace's children except they had Matthew. If anyone is interest in my sources, e-mail me and I'll give them to you. Jeanne Scott>>>
