In 1911 the Col. Francis Ward pumping station was under construction at the foot of Porter Ave. in Buffalo when it collapsed killing 8 men. My Great grandfather Robert A. Wallace was the supervising architect for this project. There is a mention of this incident in "Second looks" by Eberle and Grande on page 171. He went on to design other pumping stations, schools and churches in the United States and Canada, including Hutchinson High School, public schools 1, 19 and 28, St. Luke's Lutheran Church, North Avenue Baptist Church and the Kensington water tower. I would like to locate news reports and public records of the pumping station collapse. Any information on the other buildings he designed would also be appreciated.
