Can anyone tell me if James W. Wallace, born May 2, 1865 in Ash Grove, Greene Co., MO is the father of Anna Mable Wallace born July 18, 1894, Ash Grove, Greene Co., MO. My Anna Mable is the daughter of a James Wallace and Martha Jane Garrett. Any help out there??? Thanks, Ed Crabtree - KCMO [email protected]

Hi Ed, Your query is very interesting to me. We have a James Wilson Wallace b. December 12 1891 in MO, I assume it was in Greene Co., as that is where his parents were living at the time. His parents were Thomas Jefferson Wallace and Mary B. Black, Thomas' second wife. They also had a daughter, Minnie Gertrude born January 12, 1889 in MO. Obviously, this isn't your James W., but it makes me wonder if the two families aren't somehow related, living in the same county and all. Thomas is probably but not necessarily too old to be your James' brother, although that was my first thought about the names. He was born in middle Tennessee July 27, 1823. He married Sarah M. Bayless (born September 4, 1827) January 21, 1847. They were listed in the 1850 DeKalb County, AL census with Sarah E. age 2 born in AL, Martha E. age almost 1 born in AL. They were next found in the 1860 Carroll County, Arkansas census with additional family of Nancy J. age 9 born in AL, Cynthia L. age 5 born in AR, John W. age 4 mos born in AR. Their family migrated with the Bayless family from AL to AR and again to MO. In the 1870 Greene County, MO census they included Thomas B. age 10 born in AR, Robert G. age 8 born in AR, Mary S. age 6 born in MO, Henry S. age 4 born in MO, and Alice S. age 3 born in MO. Thomas' first wife Sarah died February 9, 1887, and he remarried April 19, 1887 to Mary Black. Do any of these names sound familiar to you, or repeat in your family? If you have any more info you can send me on your families, I've been collecting MO Wallaces and I'll look through and see if I see any connections. Thanks, Laurie
