    1. [WALLACE-L] Wallaces in N. Ireland
    2. I have only joined the list and wonder can anybody help. My Grand father was born about 1895 probably in a place called Boveedy outside Coleraine N. Ireland. His Father was called James Wallace and James had a brother called John and a sister called Hessie Jane and another brother called Matthew. It is believed my ancestors left the Stirling area of Scotland in the early 1700s, came through the port of Derry settled in a place called Ringsend, near Garvagh - Limavady then went to Boveedy near Kilrea. If anyone can help I will be very grateful Ivor Wallace

    3. Hi Ivor, I check my book "Scotch Irish Pioneers in Ulster and America", by Charles Bolton, and he mentions in a chapter titled: "Ireland's relation to Maryland, Pennsylvania and to South Carolina before the year 1718": "Another of Wilson's neighbors was John Wallis,Senior,"of Ireland and Monokin river, Somerset County," who was living in 1685 with his wife Jane, his nephew John Wallis, Junior, and his kinsmen Matthew and James Wallis. Other settlers from Ireland were there. Sounds like to me they are talking about Maryland at this point. Looks like this family came to America in one of the five ships in 1718. Hope this is helpful, Sandy Web Site: http://www.mymk.com/smoffett Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, January 14, 2001 1:36 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [WALLACE-L] Wallaces in N.
