    3. Carter, Hardin & Wallace Cousins: I'm glad to see that I've struck a nerve! We've had many positive responses to the initial inquiry. No, I will not move to close these lists. I still feel as positive about them as I did 10 years ago when we struggled to start the group. We were initially hosted by a different server at the University of Indiana. After they were hacked and shut down, Rootsweb offered to host the lists, and each list owner had an option whether to move to Rootsweb or chose a different service. We, as a family, for I feel each list subscriber is part of our larger family, chose to move to Rootsweb. It has turned out to be a very good choice over the years. They've provided us with a lot of choices & services. What I would like to see is a renewed effort, by all of us, to get these lists active again. Remember, we've still got a lot of "brick walls" to conquer. Me, I still don't know: #1: Who the parents of my great grandfather: William Jasper Carter, were! Have a possible idea who his mother might be, but it still leaves questions and the big one is who was his father. #2: Who are the parents of Samuel Wallace, who was born ca 1754 and died ca 1796. #3: Just exactly who are the parents of: Sarah Hardin, who was married to Samuel Wallace. We know that she settled in the area of what now forms Webster & Union counties in Kentucky somewhere around 1799. From that point on, the family leaves a paper trail a mile wide. But what about the early years!! So me, I've got lots of questions. Me, I've only been researching some of these issues for only the last 12 years, but other family members have been at it for 60 plus years and still don't have an answer. I'm an eternal optimist and keep hoping someone new will join the group, post a question and the answer will surface and smack me in the face. Like I said, I'm an eternal optimist. So let's do it! Let's get these groups back in motion, chattering as in our past glory. Best regards to all and good hunting! Chuck Carter Charles E.
