    3. Hi Chuck: The weekend kept me too busy to check emails, but found this message today and wanted to add to the growing list of people who wish to see this list continued. I am not a Wallace, but have been researching the line for my friend, Ron Wallace of California, for the past five years. I have my own brick wall to add to the others. I am looking for the parentage and exact birth place of Jacob Wallace, patriarch of this Wallace line, and for the whereabouts and disposition of his great-grandsons, Howard and Pearle. Ron Wallace is descended from Jacob Wallace, born in Maryland (county unknown, but I suspect Washington County) in 1777-78. He married (spouse unknown) and is found in Franklin County, PA (across the border from Washington County, MD) in the 1810 and 1820 census with male children of the right age. He had two sons known to me: James, born about 1804 and Francis S, born about 1806. Jacob shows up in 1829 in Belmont County, Ohio, as testator for his son Francis being of legal age to marry Elizabeth Warrington (born in PA about 1810-12). I have their marriage record dated December 30, 1829, which states that she was the adopted daughter of Job Calvert. Francis and Elizabeth had several children, all born in OH or VA (WVA?): Nathaniel, born about 1832, married to Mary Craig; Samuel, born about 1834; James W, born about 1836, married to Caroline Craig; Thomas H, born about 1837, married to Mary E Roseberry; Margaret, born about 1839; and William, born about 1842. Nathaniel (wounded at Gettysburg), James W, Thomas and William all served in the Civil War with the Ohio Infantry, different regiments. Thomas H married Mary E Roseberry (born in PA about 1840) March 23, 1863 in Marietta, OH. They had four known sons: Howard, born about 1864; Pearle C, born about 1867; Harry E, born 1871; and Theron H, born about 1876. My friend Ron is descended from Harry E, and I have a rich paper trail for Harry and Theron. I can find nothing on Howard or Pearle after the 1880 census, except for mention of Pearle as a surviving son in his mother's obituary. If anyone on the list can tie this Wallace line to their own research, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, and keep the list going, please. We never know when some vital clue may pop up onscreen from someone on the list. As of late, I rarely see any traffic and don't think there has been a message in weeks. Is it worthwhile keeping these lists active? Have they become obsolete with the advent of the web based message boards of a number of years back and should they be closed down? Even I am not as active in the day to day use & management of these family lists as I used to be. I'm asking because I need your opinion. Please don't be shy, your participation is needed. When I initially started on my journey tracing my family background, ancestors, etc, I found these lists very helpful in my endeavors. Have they out lived their usefulness?
