Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements. And, yes, friends, I am back. My father, who has myleofibrosis, is doing better. His radiation treatment shrank his spleen to the point that he feels better and is up and walking some around the farm--not straying too far. I didn't think he would last until Christmas, but he made it through the holidays and his doctor thinks he is just short of a miracle. He is not cured by any means, but he is doing better. I expect that we'll have him around another year at least. In the meantime, I have been cataloging the Wallace information I have, which has truly been overwhelming. I have all of your emails and will try to get to them in the next few weeks. Marjorie, I owe you a nice long letter. I enjoyed your note at Christmas and hope to respond to you soon. I am going on a much needed retreat this weekend and will send you a letter next week. Thank you all for your kind emails inquiring about my father. 2. My Wallace family is from Scotland, I believe in Kettle, Fife and Cupar, Fife. The names are Henry Campbell Wallace born 1868 and he came to New York. His father was Thomas Forrest Wallace born in 1828. I have a brother named for Henry named James born in 1860. All my Wallace family I have moved to New York in mid-to late 1890's. Interesting side note: Henry Campbell (my gr grandfather) was a carpenter and my family has the tools and tool box he brought over to America. One of his jobs was to repair one of the big wood doors at St. Patricks Cathederal in NYC. Please email me with any connections. Thank you. 1. I am going to Ireland in 2007.
    2. Are their any Wallace's on this list that either are from (or still live in) Longford, Longford County, Ireland? Or has any other descendant of Arthur Wallace and Nancy Peggy Johnson gone to Longford to research? I am going to Ireland with a bunch of family in 2007. I hope I can come back with a wealth of information. Jeremy Wallace St. Louis, MO USA

    3. Diana and Wallace Listers: I realized after I sent the message that I failed to include dates. Just tired when I sent the message. Jacob Wallace was born 1777-78 in MD. I found a Jacob Wallace in the census for 1810 in Guilford and 1820 in Chambersburg, Franklin County, PA. His sons James and Francis were born around 1808 and 1810, respectively. Francis married Elizabeth Warrington in 1829 in Belmont County, Ohio. I am tracing their son Thomas H and his descendants for my friend, Ron Wallace, who lives in California. I have much information from Thomas H forward in time, but am having difficulty coming up with records of any sort for Jacob. Anything ring bells? Father was Jacob Wallace, born somewhere in MD. He married (who?) and had two known sons, James and Francis S, in PA. He next shows up in Belmont County, Ohio, bearing witness to his son Francis's age on the marriage record of Francis S Wallace to Elizabeth Warrington. I have documented fairly well the Wallace line from Francis and Elizabeth. I'm still looking for PA and MD records for Jacob. Does anyone on the list recognize these names? I have all the children of Francis and Elizabeth -- Nathaniel, James W, Thomas H (the line I'm following down through time), Margaret and William F, all born in Belmont County. 2. Hello. I really hope some one can be of some help. For about a year I have been trying to connect my family from Longford, Ireland back to roots in Scotland. I am not even positive if my family line came from Scotland. The earliest I descendant I have is: Arthur Wallace (Born in 1730 in Longford, Ireland) (Died in 1762 in Longford, Ireland) sp- Peggy Johnson I have never found sound proof of Arthur's parents. ANY help or guidance would be much appreciated. Pro Libertate. Jeremy Wallace St. Louis, MO USA

    3. Hello. I am currently attempting to research my family tree on my mothers side. Having had some success, I would like to fill in some blanks and get further back. I have found James Wallace via 1861 cencus, but cannot find his birth. According to the cencus he would have been born around 1825 in St Andrews Fife, but I have had no success finding the birth record, therefore his parents and family are unknown to me and I need them to trace further. His son Robert Wallace is also not found, even though the other siblings were. Robert was born around 1849, being age 12 in 1861 cencus. If anyone can help, I will be grateful to hear from you. Best regards - Ian Forsyth

    3. I am William Patrick Wallace, Born, Calif. 1922 I am searching for the maiden name of my Great Grandmother Wallace. According to oral family history my Great Grandfather Wallace, (I think his name was William), came from Scotland to Ireland and married an Irish girl, (my great grandmother). They had a son, Patrick, born approximately 1828. Sometime after that Great Grandmother smuggled Great Grandfather onto a boat to America because the British were after him for some political reason. A year or so later, she and young Patrick joined him. I have written records of my grandfather, Patrick Wallace, from April 1849 on, but nothing before that. I would certainly appreciate any information about this family.
