    1. DNA Analysis
    2. JoAnn Wallace
    3. To All Wallaces, I can, from my personal experiences, tell you that DNA analysis does definitely help. A potential cousin contacted me after seeing my Wallace-L query. Correspondence between us provided a lot of circumstantial evidence but we couldn't find any definite proof. About that time the Wallace DNA option became available and we both participated. The result was a 100% match on 26 DNA sites tested. We were now positive that we were descended from a common ancestor. Since that time I have, with help identified a Wallace in Scotland who has his ancestry back to the 1500 who shares a common ancestor with me. While I still have a lot of searching to do to prove the line, I know that I can trace forward the Wallace male descendants of the 1500s ancestor to find my line. I think this will be much easier than trying to go back in time. I have put this info out as a way of trying to say that if all of you Wallaces with male members available can submit your(their) DNA to help establish possible common lines of ancestry. It will tie together family lines and could provide a great help to those of you with Wallace brick walls. Your DNA submission is easy and will help all of us. Ed Wallace

    3. My great great great grandmother was Rebecca Wallace, 1806-1881, PA to OH. She married, 1826, Robert Barton, 1801-1883, in PA. She was the daughter of William Wallace, abt 1758-1842 & Mary Miller, 1765-1848, PA to OH. She was the 9th of 10 children: Moses, Oliver Miller, Joseph Smith, John Clark, William, William, Mary, Nancy, Rebecca, Thomas. I am fortunate to know this because of research by William Wallace Barton and Jean Wallace Gayle. I would love to own a copy of their book Six Wallace Brothers and their Descendants. If anyone knows of one, please let me know. Connie

    3. Hi, I've been researching the surname Wallace in Nodaway County MO. I'm not a Wallace decendent but a Wallace may have been involved in finding a home for an orphan I'm researching. Any way, for what it's worth, I came across a bunch of Wallace people in Nodaway County Missouri 1850 - 1870 or later. I have an index I can check if any body needs a look up. The surname also appears on the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Nodaway County Missouri census too. Karren A.

    1. Wallace and Stroud Family
    2. I am looking for help on this family line- Shirley Wallace (male) born 12 March 1909 in Missouri Branch, Wayne County West Virginia, died 13 July 1997 in Columbus, Franklin Ohio. Shirley's wife is named Hessie A. Ferguson; I believed they married about 1927. Probably in Wayne County, West Virginia. I need help finding Shirley's parents- William M. Wallace and Laura Wilda Stroud. William was born 12 Jul 1876 in Donson? Kentucky; died 20 Nov 1949 in Lando Mines, Mingo County, West Virginia. He is buried in the Marcum Cemetery on Tick Ridge in Wayne County, West Virginia. ( I don't know if Lando Mines is a city or the name of the mine. I don't know how to search for mine records.) This information is from William's Death Certificate, I found at www.wvculture.org I am not sure of the place of birth. I cannot locate a Donson, Kentucky. I am not sure if I read the name right or if the city changed it's name. William's parents are listed on the death certificate as Tom Wallace and Elizabeth Brumfield. In the cemetery listing for William Wallace he is listed as the son of Brumfield Wallace. I cannot find these people anywhere. Laura Wilda Stroud was born 8 Feb 1880 probably in Patrick Gap, Lawrence, Kentucky; she died 21 Feb 1938. She is also buried in the Marcum Cemetery on Tick Ridge. Information also from www.wvculture.org Her parents are Gideon Stroud Sr (born Oct 1847 possibly in West Virginia died after the 1920 Census) and Elizabeth Marcum (born Apr 1851 also in West Virginia and died sometime after the 1920 Census) I have located 9 children for Gideon and Elizabeth and a few spouses. Would like to add more information. As for William Wallace, I have not found proof of who his parents were/are or any siblings. I did learn from a Great Uncle (whose sister married Everett Wallace, brother of Shirley Wallace) that William Wallace was a Bootlegger, he made moonshine. He worked in the mines and lived in Mingo and Wayne Counties in West Virginia. I would like to trace my Wallace and Stroud family farther back than the 1850's. Any help is appreciated. Christina

    1. Francis Wallace > Richard Wallace
    2. I am looking for information and other researchers that connect to my 4th great grandfather, Francis Wallace and wife, Mary (Harmon?) Wallace who lived in Madison Co. TN in the late 1820s... They had a daughter, Delinda Wallace who m. Alexander S. Rogers and son Richard who m. Alexander's sister... all in this timeframe. Francis moved to MO as did Richard and wife, and Alexander & Delinda. Our family has been researching this family for some time and feel that perhaps they came from eastern TN, Scott or Lee counties?? Just a guess.. but likely. The question is: Who was Francis' parents? There is an older Wallace that is buried in the Wallace cemetery in Madison Co. that could be his father.. Any info helpful. Ellie Stites Swanger
