Hi All My search continues for the maiden name of the mother af Patrick Wallace. Patrick was born in Limerick about 1827. His father was William Wallace who came down from Scotland and married an Irish girl. Who was she? The name, Edward McLaughlin keeps coming up along with Patrick Wallace in our family history here in California. Does anyone know of any connections between the Wallace family and the McLaughlin family back in Limerick? Thanks for putting up with an old duffer like me. Bill Wallace
Hi all my first try at this. But I am looking for anyone who may have information for the following Wallace family; Ann Wallace born approx 1796 died 1870's, has stated on Scottish Census she was born in Balmaghie, Kirkcudbright, Scotland. I believe her parents were Robert and Isabella Wallace, he was an ag worker and last known residence was in Kelton, Kirkcudbright, Scotland in the late 1700's neither Ann's parents show up on the 1841 census. Ann married Peter McTaggart in aprox 1818 in Kelton, they had the following children: John (1819) Thomas (1820) ISABELLA (1824), Helen, Margret, James and Mary. The first two children were born at Rhoenhouse, Kelton, Isabella ( my ancestor) was born at Flathill, Rerrick and the rest of the children were born at Barend or High Barend, Rerrick Ann's husband Peter and her eldest son were both stonemasons. At the time of her death she was living with her son John in the Villiage of Dunndrennan . She and her husband appear on the '41, '61 and '71 Scottish census. Does this resonate with anyone working on Wallaces families in Scotland? -- -- Jody Allen, Researching: Scotland: Wallace, Mctaggart, Clarke Ireland: Lynch, Drought Wales: Williams, Walsh

Paul, In your research have you come across anything on Wallace's in Delaware. I am looking for the family of Eliza Wallace. I do not have a birth date, but she died ca. 1855 in Sussex Co, DE. She was my 5x great grandmother married to Uriah T. Morgan 24 July 1828. He was born in 1806 in Sussex Co, DE. I am descended from their son Benjamin b. 1831. I am looking for Rev. John Wallace. I am told that he was a Presbyterian mininster. He had a daughter named Sarah (Sallie) who married Mathew Simpson Smith in 1771 in South Carolina. Matt was born in Londonderry, Ireland in 1751. His mother was Margorey (sp?) Simpson. Do not know when they came to the colonies. Matt was a Revolutionary soldier. He and his family moved to the Mississippi Territory and died in 1816 in what is now Lawrence County, AL. He and Sallie are my g-g-g-grandparents. I have no other info on Rev. John Wallace and the rest of his family. Betty.
Anyone searching WALLACEs in DC, originating in Brooklyn? Karen
Who is managing the Wallace/Wallis DNA study ? If you know, please send their identity and contact information to Jerry Spencer <jandsspencer@earthlink.net> Thanks.
Greetings All, Since there is not much activity on this list today, I have a Question which has been on my mind for a few days. Here Goes.... I am researching my Alexander Wallace tree forward to the present day with good success. Using naming patterns for each new generation has been quite successful. I make no claim to be related to the infamous 13th century William Wallace, however, is there a family tree of this person posted on the Web pages that I may look at it. My Alexr. Wallace married Janet Ritchie, who wed 9th DEC, 1798, Parish of Cluny, followed by 10 wonderful children. Thank You for any Help in making further connections. Paul Francis, Pennsylvania, US
Ok, maybe we should all post our problems again. The earliest ancestor I have is my Great Grandfather, Lemuel Adolphus Wallace, born February 13, 1864 in Sparta, Tennesee (supposedly), Died 1946 in Los Angeles, CA. I don't have any parents or siblings for him. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I think he must have been one of the first in the witness protection program or something. Sorry about this. I'm just testing as I've not received any mailing list e-mails today. Alistair Bell.
My brick wall, Jesse W. Wallace/Wallis born about 1826 in Georgia. Possibly in Hancock County. Married Catharine Wilkins in Chambers County, Alabama in 1845. Had two kids. John, 1847 and Norval, 1850. When Jesse and Catharine were married William Wallace signed on the marriage bonds. I have been unable to find anything more on Jesse or William. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Janet
This is hilarious ... you send me an email demanding to know who I am, then when I tell you, you send me an email announcing you're on vacation until July 22 (which has come and gone, I might add). Hello, I am new to the surname lists and hope this first question is appropriate (I have not seen any correspondence as of yet so am taking the liberty of jumping on in). I have posted it to the Walls/Wallace lists as well as Fogarty as it pertains info on both branches. I hope I have not breeched protocol by doing so. My name is Stephanie Michelle Patterson - maiden name Fogarty - Whitehead. The question I have pertains to my maternal great-grandmother who, as many of you have assuredly experienced, has turned out to be quite elusive. My now deceased grandfather declared her name to be Lula Walls. She died when he was six whereupon he was placed in an orphanage in Tx. He knew precious little about her. Her death was in 1926 - she is of course not in the 1930 census. I have been pouring through census after census and have finally located a LulU Fogarty living in Refugio, Tx. It is she as it lists her children and my grandfather was among them, Daniel Frederick Fogarty b. 1919 (siblings: "Jack" John Patrick Fogarty, Annie Jewel Fogarty, and Juanita Fogarty - all born in Refugio). In this census (1920), she lists both of her parents being born in Texas. This gave me significantly more to go on; however, after carefully going through earlier census information, not one Walls could be found in the state of Texas that had also been born in Texas, let alone both parents born in Texas. Finally a search on Ancestry.com produced results of "Lulu Wal". I looked at this census (1900) and it shows a William D Wallace (not Wal, although it is now entered in all the Ancestry.com databases as such). He is head and his wife, Zilpha were both born in Texas. There is a 12-year-old daughter named Lulu. The dates match up with her birth. My question is: Would it now be common protocol to accept this as "her", or is further research in order? I have looked into marriage records, et al, but she does not come up as Lulu or Lula Walls - yet neither does a Wallace. The man she was married to, John Patrick Fogarty, b. circa 1884 in Texas does not show up in any records other than the 1920 census, where he states his father was born in Ireland. I am extremely new to genealogy. Please forgive me if I have given too much or too little information. ANY guidance would help tremedously. Sincerely, S. Michelle

Anyone know a Jonathan Wallace of the Mountain Twp, of Saline Co., IL? Apparently, after the Civil War he was granted a federal license to distill whiskey in Illinois. I have no other info. Just found this reference while perusing The History of Saline Co., IL in the Harrisburg Genealogical Society. Also found a reference to a Tubby Wallace in the Pankeyville School, no date but probably early 1900's. Anyone know who Tubby belongs to? and his real name? Thanks.
