    3. Hi Ann, Thanks for the reply. I found the Wallace DNA website, but the only thing shown is a list of names with no identifying information about the ancestral lines so I am unable to determine if the names listed are the ancestor or the participant. Any idea? Thanks, Sharron Spencer Ann Brown wrote: > Sharon, > > I just happened to have that e-mail but you could check the archives > of the Wallace list. 1. Wallace and McLaughlin
    2. Marge & Bill Wallace
    3. Hello All Does anyone know anything about one Edward McLaughlin, born in Ireland about 1819. In particular, is there any relationship between the Wallace family and the McLaughlin family back in Limerick. I find his name along with Patrick Wallace (B 1828) in Dubuque, Iowa where they both filed a "Notice of Intent" for citizenship in 1849 as they joined the gold rush to California. Then I find them in the 1860 census in California where several men, including those two, shared an abode together. Then I find Patrick Wallace and Edward McLaughlin homesteading adjoining parcels of land. Then when Patrick was married and had his first son baptized, Edward was the godfather. Were they maybe cousins? Bill Wallace

    3. Today I found a listing of the burials in this cemetery, including some of my Wallace relatives. There is also a map with the sections of the cemetery numbered as well as an aerial map. Go to www.mariettaga.gov <http://www.mariettaga.gov/> On the right of the page, click on Online Maps, then click on City Cemetery Map and Query, then click on Find You can search by surname and you will get a list of all the burials with that name. There are other search options, also. If you find a name of interest, on the left side of the entry is a number. Click on it and you will be taken to the cemetery map and the section in which the burial is located. Good Luck!

    1. More Wallace people in Saline Co., IL
    2. Edward, The 1880 census, Pope, Monroe, IL has Jonathan, age, 47, Nancy J., 39, Sarah E. 16, Amanda, 14, William, 12, George, 10, Nancy, 7, Lew, 5, Ulysses, 1. I don't think that Co. or Saline was done in 1890. The 1900 census, Saline, Mountain Twp, has Nancy J, head, age 59, William, 32, S.L. (Lew), 25, Florence B., 22, Ulysses, 21, Rosa M., 18, Courtland, 17. The 1910 census same place, has Nancy J., age 69, Sarah, 42, widowed, William, 39?, Lew, 25, Florence,,28?, Courtland, 25?. In the 1920 and 1930 census' William F., Lew, and Courtland are living side by side. In the 1930 one, we find out that Lew was a General when he went into WWI, ( I found his registration for the Army) and Florence has been living with him for at least. 15 years, never married. I don't know who the Jane is as wife to Jonathan but I think maybe he's the one in the 1880 census!!! "Margie:

In August 1864, they gave power of attorney to Benjamin Wallace so that he could dispose of this property. At that time the power of attorney was filed in Mich., Cty. of Keweenaw, Twp. of Houghton at Eagle Lake. I don't know where Thos. and is wife went from there nor do I know what relation he was to Benjamin . Barbara in Port Hope

    3. I haven't seen any replies to your questions, so you may already have this info. I've found your family in several more censuses, all in COBB CO. In 1860 it appears they were newly married, no children. James is 20, she's 17, and listed as M.P. In 1880 in Big Shanty with four children. In 1900 Big Shanty, listed as in-laws to John and Nannie Mayfield (probably the daughter, Nancy). James' middle initial is W. In 1910, Mary P. is widowed, still living in Big Shanty. If you want any of these images, please let me know. You may be able to find James' parents' names if you could get a copy of his marriage license, or his death cert. or obit. There are RAOGK volunteers for Georgia who also may be able to help you. 3. FYI........... Chuck Carter List Owner / Host CARTER Family Discussion lists HARDIN Family Discussion lists WALLACE Family Discussion lists -------Original Message------- From: announce@mail.rootsweb.com Date: 08/12/06 14:09:15 To: LIST-ANNOUNCE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RootsWeb Mailing Lists are being Updated Dear RootsWeb mailing list subscriber, We are excited to announce that in the coming weeks, the RootsWeb.com mailing lists will be moving to a new list management system. Why? The new list management system offers updated technology, better spam control, and more efficient hosting of the lists. When? All the lists won't be updated all at once. In fact, once we start it will take us about two weeks to complete the process. We've posted the additional details about the update and a current update schedule at the link below. http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html This page can also be found by following the link found on http://lists.rootsweb.com. If there are any changes to the schedule, we'll update this page to let you know. How will it Affect You? Your current subscription(s) will automatically transfer to the new system so there will be no need to re-subscribe to your list(s), however, because the sending and receiving of list email will be handled by a new system, you may notice a few changes to your list(s). Digest subscribers will notice a small difference in the layout, volume and issue numbers of the list digests. The "-L" is being dropped from the "official" list name. This means the "from" address your mailing list emails come from will be slightly different- ListName@rootsweb.com vs. the current ListName-L@rootsweb.com. You may have to adjust your spam filters or put the new address on your "accept" list to prevent it from being caught in your "junk" folder. This sounds like a big change, but it doesn't have to change the way you use the list. Here's why: - You will still be able to send messages to the list using the "ListName-L@rootsweb.com" email address you use today. Additionally, you can choose to drop the "-L" and send your messages to ListName@rootsweb.com. Both addresses will work after the list has been migrated. - You will still be able to subscribe and unsubscribe to the mail or digest mode by sending your request to ListName-L-request@rootsweb.com or ListName-D-request@rootsweb.com as you do today. You will also be able to unsubscribe from the mail or digest mode by sending your "unsubscribe" message to LISTNAME-request@rootsweb.com. The tools that list administrators use to manage their list will also be changing. If you are a list admin, you will be contacted in an additional email on Monday with more details and a link to a tutorial. We're excited about the improvements to the lists because we feel confident that they will ensure that the mailing lists continue to run smoothly for years to come. We appreciate your patience while we make this transition and hope that the RootsWeb mailing lists will continue to be a valuable tool in your genealogy research. Thanks, The Rootsweb Staff ********************************************** You received this message from RootsWeb as a one-time email notification of upcoming changes to the mailing list(s) you subscribe to.

    3. To all who answered my query, I thank you and I will try to encapsulate an answer to all in one E-mail. I'm afraid we-ll have to go back to Ireland or Scotland to find any Wallaces related to our line as my father was the only surviving son of Patrick Wallace who was born in Ireland and had no brothers or sisters as far as I know. With all the Wallaces there are now in the U.S. I'm sure the lines merge back there somewhere. Someone a few weeks back suggested the DNA route and I'm sure that's the way to go. I intend to learn more about that. Again, thanks to all Bill Wallace

    3. Hello List, My name is Pamela, I am researching my husbands Great Grandparents James Wallace and Emma Jane Gane. I have been researching both our family surnames for 10 years now. I have not had any luck with his Wallace side though. All I know is that his Great Grandfather was James Wallace born about 1864 in Edinburgh, Scotland. And in 1925 when Christina married Charles Walter Groves her father James was a Railway Signalman. And that he married? Emma Jane Gane, although have not found a marriage for them, although I surpose they could have married in Scotland. They had two daughters that I know about. Their first child Emma Wallace born 1890 in Pimlico, London, England and my husband Stephen's Grandmother Christina Beatrice Wallace born 29, September 1891 at 52, Riverhall Street, Wandsworth Rd, Lambeth, Essex, England. I think James's parents were Robert Wallace and Margaret Bain? I only think this because of the 1881 Census. I am not to sure. Is this James Wallace in your family, If so please get in touch with me. Thank you in advance for any information I might receive. Kind Regards Pamela J Groves
