I am searching for information on a William Green Wallace born in Kentucky. He may have had a brother or cousin named Michael. William moved to Illinois sometime before 1841. His last name on his wedding certificate is spelled Wallis. William was married in Illinois in Dec. of 1841 to a Catherine Goddard. Micael was also married in Illinois in Aug. of 1841 to a Nancy Goddard. I believe Catherine and Nancy to be sisters or cousins, perhaps they were related to a Solomon Goddard, as he is the one who performed these marriages. William and Catherine had a son named George Washington Wallace/Wallis born in 1844. William died or left the family around 1846-47. Catherine died soon after, and George was raised by his Aunt Nancy and Uncle Michael. George Washington Wallace was married three times: (1) to Mary A. Quigley on Sept 13, 1866; (2) to Mary S. Dikus (or Dykes?) on Oct. 28, 1875; and (3) to Oregon Heimrick on March 19, 1893. George moved from ILL to the Hilsboro, MO area with his first wife before 1874. His known children include: Mary C. bn 1868, twins Lizzie and Nancy bn 1871, William bn 1876/77, Charles E. bn 1881, Green Washington bn 1887. Any information on the Wallace/Wallis family of KY, IL, and MO will be greatly appreciated. Linda Mondy 15395 Slab Springs Dr. Licking, Missouri 65542 U.S.A. 573-674-3798

Wallace Cousins -- When my wife, Ms Charlotte, and I were visiting in CA during the month of April, we visited the Nixon Library. Of course we sign the guest register. Today I received the following short hand written note from Diane Huffman, 12210 Groveland, Whittier, CA 90604. Hi, I am looking for relatives of my Great Grandmother, Nancy Dena Wallace. She had 11 brothers and sisters. I would like to find out who they were. If that name sounds familiar in your family tree, please let me know. Thank you, Diane Huffman Cousins, it is a small world. She saw my name on the register and wrote me a letter. I will send her a note this week and tell her I have put her request on the net. If any one has any information, let me know and I will forward it to "Cousin" Diane. George D. Wallace, Jr. 8420 Hogan Dr. SE Huntsville, AL 35802 205/883-0037 gwallace@HiWAAY.net

Hi. I have found my Wallace's have an odd practice that might be a lead. They name they have a family name of D. Not Dee. Just the letter. "D" . Anyone out there run across anything similar? They supposedly came from Missouri and ended up in Oregon Territory. I have quite detailed recordes once they got to Oregon. In the early 1800's if that helps anyone. Take care and God Bless, Shelley, http://www.geocities.com/~swalla/

--------------------- Forwarded message: Subj: Wallace family Date: 97-05-30 22:37:18 EDT From: RichPam To: SPRAD666 Hi! I wrote to you earlier about possible connections to Hughie Minor Wallace(b. 1897 in Putnam Co., WV). However, I've found a few more peices of the puzzle that may help... Hughie Minor Wallace married Bonnie Bowman and they lived at Van, Boone County, WV. Hughie Minor Wallace's father was Henry Wallace, married to Lavina Dunn. They had several children in addition to Hughie Minor, Dewey, Gladys, and Opal, to name a few. Hughie Minor Wallace's children are: James "Yanc" Wallace, Alma Wallace, David Wallace, and a young child that died. Any connections? Thanks!

Just found your list after looking for Wallaces for the past six months. I am a direct descendant of Alexander Wallace (1699-1767) from Scotland who settled in Hopewell Twp, York Co, PA around 1734. I have quite a bit on the family but I also have some puzzles. Very brief background for my puzzle which follows Alexander (1699-1767) James W. (1743-1777) Alexander (1766-1842) James (1788-1863), m Catherine Gemmill Andrew (1799-1873), m Margaret Gemmill Recently I was sent info that Andrew, b 1799, and Margaret Gemmill Wallace had no children. My branch thought they were the parents of James W Wallace who fathered James Gemmill Wallace who is my great-grandfather. Andrew's brother James and Catherine Gemmill Wallace had a son James W Wallace also. My data and others show James W being born in 1825 and that he was a doctor. The puzzle is that other sources have a death date for James W, son of James in 1851, whereas I have James W, son of Andrew died in 1855. I found James W and his wife Jane Cross (mother of James Gemmill Wallace) on the 1850 census and his occupation was listed as manufacturer, not a doctor. Jane died during childbirth in 1851 and James W married Abbie Jordan. James W. died in 1855 and Abbie died in 1859. James G was supposedly raised by two aunts but I could not find him on the 1860 census. Can anyone shed some light on my dilema so I know whether or not to switch branches on the family tree. James G Wallace as an adult was not highly thought of. He left his wife and family after spending his inheritance on drinking and gambling or so says my uncle, James G's grandson who will be 90 this summer. So there may be a will somewhere but I live in NC - need some help. Thanks - Ann Wallace Palmer
Looking for help on my great grandfather, Lemuel Adolphus WALLACE, born Feb. 15, 1864 in Sparta, Tennessee, according to his death certificate. His father was an unknown WALLACE and mother was an Emma REED, again according to the death certificate. Lem died in 1946 in Van Nuys, California. He married to Willie L. Tubbs of Texas. A family story says all in his family, except for one unknown brother, died in a flood or river crossing when he was about 7 years old. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
