Hello, This is my first posting to the WALLACE list. Hope I can make some connections, as this is not a line that I know a lot about. Amanda WALLACE was born 1822 in Nelson Co. VA to Andrew WALLACE and Elizabeth ARISMAN. Family legend says that the Arisman/Erismann family came to VA from PA. Does this fit in with anyone's family? Amanda WALLACE married John CRITZER (b. 1820 Nelson Co.) and had a son named Charles Wesley CRITZER (b. 1847). Thanks for any information. Vera Hailey
Happened to see this post on another list and told her I would pass it on to the Wallace list since I know the name fits with the Wallaces but not sure if it could be this specific Withers or not. Hope someone out there can help her. Ken SOUTH-CENTRAL-KENTUCKY-request@rootsweb.com > >I'm new at this. I am trying to get information about my family. The site: "The World Genealogy Archives" (not be confused with USGenWeb!!) TWGA is located at: <http://oasis.slcc.edu/search/> Maintained by a dirtbag named Matt Roller. I found the Alligood Cemetery records I transcribed to my Colquitt Co., GAGenWeb page there this morning. He DID NOT have my permission to lift them off my web site! He didn't ask! When I confronted him, he won't answer me or the others who have also emailed him. I also found both of the TATE bibles and the MASHBURN bible text I submitted to Anna Buxton's site "The Bible Archives at Matt Roller's site this morning. Anna told me today that he never asked her to use them. He sure didn't ask me. He even used my dialog verbatum, including the people's nicknames from our bible records. If you have records online like these, census, wills, deaths, burials, obits, marriages, births, diaries, journals, newletters, and so on...you might want to check there to see if he has taken your info too. I talked to several people on the GALINA list this morning who also found their records at his site after I told them where to look. There are more victims on the new Copyright-l list too. What can you do about this you ask.....you can subscribe to a new list and find out more about your rights to your data. It's called COPYRIGHT-L and to subscribe send a message to: COPYRIGHT-L-request@rootsweb.com with this command: subscribe in the body of the message. Don't forget to turn off your signature block. Another thing you can do is visit Matt Roller's guestbook and tell him what you think of people who steal data off our web pages. The url for his guestbook is: http://144.35.8.177/search/guestbook.htm And finally, you are free to contact his internet host which happens to be (can you believe it?) Salt Lake City Community College Here is a message off his guestbook: "For those of you who are interested, here is the contact information for the Internet administrator of the Salt Lake City Community College (where Mr. Roller's site is located): Whois slcc.edu [rs.internic.net.] Salt Lake City Community College (SLCC-DOM) P.O. People think he has worked so hard at building a nice web site but little do they know how he got most of his data. Rather than just decide not to put your data out there for someone to take, why not stand up against people like him and put them out of commission. Let's not deprive ourselves of the wonderful sharing and exchange we now enjoy because of people like Matt Roller. Thanks for your time! The award winning book by Lt. Col. George H. Carlton entitled "John Carlton of Orange County and Albemarle County Virginia and some of his descendants 1720-1989" brought me names of over a dozen multi great grandparents and a book full of details. Address is 901 Becky Lane, Waxahachie, TX 75165; phone 617-7519. Highly recommend for Carlton researchers. hughhyman@aol.com

Elizabeth Wallace was the wife of my John Carlton. Their sons were in the Revolutionary War. I am guessing that she was born in the mid 1700s. Their son, Lewis was my ancestor. They also had Thomas, Ambrose and John. Anyone know of Elizabeth? Please reply to: GiarsCJRJ@aol.com Thanks. cj

Hi! WE are Wallaces from the north and we have a legend in the family that one of Argyle Wallaces son"s escaped with the original Sir William Wallaces son and a nurse maid to France after he was drwn and Quartered. It is also said there has been a william Wallace as the first grandson from that time to now at least in our family. There is today still a tradition of doing this. My uncle is a William. Near as we can make out there wer several bastard children born to him and he acknowledged everyone but would never marry again in public because of the Prima Nocturn Law in Scotland it was one of the way's he snubbed the English. legend goes that they stayed a time in France and then to Ireland and then back to Scotland.as to how many generations this took ?????? so we are probably all related the question is where. Also there were bcousins who escaped to Ireland when the English tried to wipe out the Wallaces and some who changed the spelling to Walliswho stayed in Scotland. I hope this explaines some of the confusion after this time and the differences that are coming up. My grandfather was very proud of his heritage and it was one of the first things I learned from him as a child, He took it as gospel truth told to him by his father and gggrandfather????? BByam5
